Course Details

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), established in 1999, is an autonomous law university offering courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It is in Salt Lake City of Kolkata. It has permanent affiliation from the Bar Council of India. In Its relatively short existence, NUJS has firmly established itself as one of the premier National Law Schools and top-ranking centres of legal education in India.

In 2009 Outlook ranked NUJS as the 2nd best law school in India. In 2008, in a ranking conducted jointly by the Wall Street Journal and Mint, NUJS was rated as the 3rd best law school in India, with the best "pedagogic systems and process" amongst all law schools in the country. The students of NUJS have excelled in almost every field. They have proven their mettle in various areas such as Moot Courts, Debates, and Essay Writing.

The University invites applications for admission to the Doctor of Laws (LLD) Programme for the academic year. The programme is for a duration of around 3 years. Check NUJS Admission

NUJS LLD Eligibility

You should have a Ph.D. Degree in Law of any recognized University.

You must also have published as the main author a minimum of ten articles in the peer reviewed/refereed journals having ISSN number or books of repute with ISBN number after the completion of Ph.D.

NUJS LLD Admission Process

You will be selected on the basis of fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.

How To Apply?

You should download the Application Form from the University website. It would be available under the “Admissions” tab.

You should take a print out of the Application Form, and fill it with the necessary personal and academic details in your own handwriting.

You should also affix a self-attested recent colour passport size photograph.

Application Fee: You should pay the Application Fee of Rs. 5000 which would be non-refundable, in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favour of the Registrar, WBNUJS, Kolkata payable at Kolkata.

Enclosures: You must attach the following enclosures with the Application Form:

  • An outline of the scheme of research intended for the thesis
  • A chapter-wise proposal of the work in about 2000 words
  • A certificate from the institution concerned testifying length of service, wherever required
  • An attested photocopy of Ph.D. Degree
  • One set of published papers, monographs, articles and books, if any
