• For admission into B.Tech (Lateral Entry) Computer Science & Engineering, candidates must have passed B.Sc (H) in Physics with Mathematics as Genl. Subject / B.Sc. Hons. in Computer Science / B.Sc. Hons. in Mathematics (C.U. current year) with Physics / Statistics / Computer Science as one of the Genl. Subjects / B.Sc. • For admission into B.Tech (Lateral Entry) Electrical Engineering/ Instrumentation Engineering, candidates must have a B.Sc (Hons.) degree in Physics
• For admission into B.Tech (Lateral Entry) Chemical Engineering, candidates must have B.Sc (Hons.) degree with Chemistry and Mathematics and Physics as the main subjects
• For admission into B.Tech (Lateral Entry) Electronics & Communication Engineering/ Radio Physics & Communication/ Information Technology/ Jute and Fibre Technology, candidates must have B.Sc (Hons.) degree in the relevant discipline

Calcutta University B.Tech Selection Process

• For admission into B.Tech (Regular) courses, candidates must have appeared for WBJEE conducted by West Bengal Board of Joint Entrance Examination. The final selection will be based on the score in WBJEE followed by counselling.
• For admission into B.Tech (Lateral Entry) is done on the basis of score in JELET
• For admission into B.Tech (Lateral Entry) Computer Science & Engineering, CU and Non-CU candidates have to appear in University Level Entrance Test.

Calcutta University offers admission to B.Ed programs for the categories of Deputed and Fresher candidates on the basis of their performance in academics. Minimum eligibility for B.Ed is a Graduation or PG degree. Age should be not more than 40 years as on June 30 for Fresher candidates. There is no age limit for Deputed candidates. • For taking admission into (MA/M.Sc) / MA / M.Sc / M.Sc (Ag.), candidates must have a Graduate Degree in relevant subject
• For taking admission into M.Sc in Chemistry / Environmental Science, candidates must have passed B.Sc (H) in Chemistry with at least 55% 
• For taking admission into M.Sc in Biotechnology, candidates must have B.Sc. with Honors (Major) in all Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, B.Agr, B.Tech (Biotechnology) and MBBS
• For admission into M.Sc in Genetics, candidates must have at least 50% marks in B.Sc. (Hons.) and at least 60% marks in average in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or its equivalent 
• For admission into M.Sc in Atmospheric Science / Biophysics & Molecular Biology, candidates must have at least 55% marks in Honours in relevant subject and 60% in 10+2
• For admission into M.Sc in Bioinformatics & Biophysics, candidates must have 55% marks in Honors in relevant subject and at least 60% marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology at 10+2 level
• For admission into MA (Education), candidates must have at least 40% in the qualifying degree
• For admission into MA (French), candidates must have BA (Hons.) Degree or 45% marks in Pre-MA
• For admission into M.Com, candidates must have B.Com. or graduation from IGNOU, NSOU or Distance education programs from other universities in West Bengal

• For taking admission into Integrated MLIS, candidates must have a Graduate Degree
• For admission into M.Ed programme, candidates should have B.Ed and 50% in the UG degree / B.Sc-B.Ed / BA-B.Ed / B.El.Ed with 55% marks in aggregate. 55 years (50 years for SC/ST/ PWD) of age as on June 30 of the admission year. Candidates with D.Ed/ D.El.Ed along with UG Hons. degree with 55% marks. 

Calcutta University PG Selection Process:

• Admission to M.Sc at CU will be done on the basis of merit secured in an Entrance Test
• Admission to MA / (MA/M.Sc) / M.Com at CU will be done on the basis of merit in qualifying examination
• Admission to MA / M.Sc in Human Rights at CU will be done on the basis of performance in an Written Test
• Admission into M.Ed is based on the marks in 10+2 and Graduation and Entrance Test conducted by the university
• Admission into LL.M. / M.Sc (Ag.) is based on the merit secured in an Entrance Test conducted by the university
• Admission into Integrated M.Li.Sc is based on the academic merit followed by an Admission Test
• Admission into MLIS / MA (Museology) is done 60% seats through merit for CU candidates and 40% seats through admission test for Non-CU candidates

• For admission to M.Tech in Computer Science, except for CU current year B. Tech (CSE & IT) and MCA candidates, candidates have to go through an Entrance Test followed by an Interview. GATE score is mandatory except CU students.
• For admission into the M.Tech program at CU, CU candidates are directly eligible for admission while Non-CU candidates have to appear in the Admission Test. Students must note that in case of M.Tech in Pharmaceuticals & Fine Chemical Technology, a good GPAT score will be considered in place of GATE.

Admission to Ph.D. at CU is done on the basis of score in the Written Test followed by Research Proposal & an interview. UGC/ CSIR/ JRF (NET)/ SET/ SLET/ GATE or DST (Inspire) Scholarship or Teacher Fellowship holders will be exempted from the Written Test. Those students are also exempted from the university written test who have completed M.Phil/ M.Tech/ MD/ ME/ M.Pharm degree from a recognized university.
