What are the college timings at IIEST, Shibpur?

The timetable of the IIEST university has been modified and implemented since 2017. For the working days, i.e. Monday to Friday each week, the timing is as follows. Half First: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. with 4 periods each of 55 minutes. Break: 12:40 to 13:50 is the time for a break. Second Half: from 13:50, till 16:35 (3 periods each of 55 minutes) The rest of the day is yours after the classes finish at 16:35. Only holidays allowed by the Central Government of India are considered, although during local Bengali festivities you can have holidays if the professors permit. A 4-week long leave is offered after the odd semester. Even semesters commence from the first week of January. After even semesters, you will get an interval of around 2.5 months. During which you can do your internship. In odd semesters, the number of working days is more than in even semesters. Is it easy to get a 9 CGPA at IIEST Shibpur?

It might be not so difficult but not too easy. If you can sit and study for 8 hours and stretch longer you can get 9 pointers easily and successfully. If you spend most of your time wasting, then it is very much possible and sure you aren’t getting either of pointer and knowledge. Also, getting a 9 pointer or more is easy if you have interest in the field you are pursuing. It is to be noticed that, it’s relative to your credibility to the department you are seeking engineering in. Some departments are easier to score good grades while others aren’t. The number of 9 pointers varies department wise. On an average you cannot see many 9 pointers in a class. Very few are that studious. You have to be sincere, regular, and attentive in classes to be a 9 pointer and to maintain your high CGPA. You can achieve a CGPA more than 9 and above, but you have to be regular and attend at least 80% of class in a semester. Give constant efforts to complete your syllabus before the exam day and solve maximum of your assignments and tutorials yourself. Then getting 9 pointers will become easier. Should I leave IIEST Shibpur for IISER Bhopal engineering sciences?

This completely depends on your choice and preferences. The only thing you should take into account is how the course will benefit your career ahead. IIEST Shibpur and IISER Bhopal offer different career paths. IIEST Shibpur is an engineering college and will push you most probably into a technical or corporate line. IISER has a completely different approach. It focuses on scientific research and you will most probably end up in academia or research-oriented jobs. IIEST is a very old and reputed institute in the country and definitely, its placements will be better compared to IISER Bhopal. This decision entirely depends on you. Choose which career path you want to avail yourself and work toward establishing it.

It is seen that usually, the exam conducted by ISRO, that is ICRB, takes students from the different branches of engineering that include electrical, electronics, and mechanical sections. Also, there are other vacancies in ISRO for which you can apply but those vacancies usually demand higher degrees, including M.Tech and Ph.D. in the aerospace field. Lastly, we can conclude that you have two options if you dream to work in ISRO. Firstly you can apply for a mechanical branch while filling an application for the exam or you can pursue higher studies and then apply for the vacancies in ISRO. What are some best books for 1st year students in IIEST Shibpur?

The answer to this question may help the student, as my sister was in this place just a year before. However, class notes are the best and real deal, and the students must follow class notes to understand the topic discussed in the class. Chemistry Class notes are the best, but the students must collect notes from the different departments as well. My sister also followedCastellan for the Physical Chemistry part. Computing and Programming There are numerous books for Logic Gates and Binary System. C programming course is the main course for this subject and you can follow Let us C for this course. Basic Electronics Engineering The student must follow the Electronic Devices and Circuit Theory by Boylestad and Nashelsky for this subject. This book contains a number of solved problems. Mathematics I For this, students can go for Higher Engineering Mathematics by B.S Grewal; this book is also helpful for the second year of study. Besides, the student can also follow A Textbook of Engineering Mathematics Volumes I, II, III, IV by Guruprasad Samanta from their first year to last year’s study. Mechanics The class notes and the problem sheets are important for this subject and you should solve the problems thoroughly. Besides, they can follow the book with 4 authors, namely, Engineering Mechanics by S.Timoshenko, D H Young, J.V Rao and Sukumar Pati. Basic Electrical Engineering Besides regular class notes, the student can go for Basic Electrical Engineering by Abhijit Chakrabarti, Sudipta Nath and Chandan Kumar Chanda, and Basic Electrical Engineering by V.N Mittle and Arvind Mittal to get a good backup. Mathematics II As it is mentioned in Mathematics I, the Vector Space chapter will be quite troublesome for the students. For Linear Algebra, they can follow the book written by Sheldon Axler. Physics Students must go for B.K Guhas Degree Physics for Science and Engineering, as this book helps the student keep afloat. They can also follow Ajoy Ghatak for Optics¸, Schaums Outline of Vector Analysis by Murray Spiegel and Seymour Lipschutz for Vector Algebra¸ Advanced Acoustics by D.P Ray Chaudhri for Acoustics. From the above, it is cleared that class notes should be the first priority for every student; besides, they can take the book from Ramanujan Central Library. But, they have to be an early bird; otherwise, everything will be stocked out. Students can also find online PDFs for the study if they can’t buy books, as most of the books are expensive enough.

How is ICCHE going to work in IIEST Shibpur?

My friend is a volunteer of ICCHE and his experience has been overwhelming. He has been volunteering there for 1 year with little kids (around 40–50 in number). This student’s initiative has already reached heights in very little time. With the increasing number of these little buds, more and more volunteers are joining with full enthusiasm. It is basically an initiative to educate underprivileged kids. Their living condition is so poor that they don’t get enough to eat and lack proper clothing. Sometimes, the boundary of this college serves the purpose of one of the walls of their houses! Now you can imagine their plight. You will live your own childhood with these kids and 2 hours will truly rejoice you with new energy. My friend enjoys volunteering but yes, sometimes it gets difficult to handle them as they hang on your shoulders or play among themselves. One of his friends was teaching the alphabet and one kid was learning to pronounce it. He was telling speak ‘eu’ and kid was continuously telling ‘ui’, so sometimes it becomes annoying but funny to teach them a simple thing. You will be able to see their hidden talents once you organize singing and painting competitions. You will feel proud of yourself for the opportunities that you are providing them. Also, the kids are so sweet that they gave a surprise to the volunteer team by organizing Teacher’s day. It was a wonderful and mesmerizing moment for my friend and his peers. Now, they are like a family! ICCHE tries to nurture them with love and care, which they perhaps lack in their daily life. After all, it’s not because of pity but because it’s a social responsibility to try to uplift them and convert them into assets rather than a liability of the nation.

What are some things that day scholars at IIEST Shibpur should know?

The foremost and unfortunate thing that you being a day scholar of IIEST should know is that you are missing a lot on the most important part of college life. And if you have planned to be a day scholar throughout college life, then you surely are going to regret this because hostel life is the most beautiful part of your engineering journey. My best friend is currently a hosteller at IIEST Shibpur and according to him the biggest secret to real college life at IIEST begins at the end of your hectic lectures and labs. But if you are a day scholar, you’ll already be on your bus journey to your home and that’s it. There are millions of ways for you to build your 4 or 5 years engineering career in the most enjoyable way but if you are a hosteller, then you can architect the life you are building according to your wish. My friend and his peers believe the most enjoyable and incomparable part of college is spent within the boundaries of the college itself. And these are the boundaries within which there is no boundary to your fun and craziness which you won’t get to experience ever after. Also, there are a lot of clubs in IIEST SHIBPUR like Litsoc, Robotics, CodeIIEST, etc. and the sessions for all the clubs are scheduled after classes i.e. after 5 pm. In case you want to indulge yourself in any of the clubs activities seriously, you are supposed to attend the meetings and sessions which is not really impossible for day scholars but may seem a problematic task if your home is far from college. Regarding the buses from B.garden, you will come to know the details in 2 days only because it’s easy to find the way home back. All in all, don’t miss any chance of fun because this time will not come again.

IIEST, Shibpur is an institute of national importance. The institute admits students through JEE mains examination. The application form can be accessed through jeemain.nta.nic.in website. The application fee is INR 1000 for gen/gen-ews/obc(ncl) male candidates and INR 500 for SC /ST/ PWD/ TRANSGENDER and FEMALE candidates. The dates for application of JEE mains 2023 paper 2 were from 14FEB-12MARCH 2023. Reservations are available for female, SC/ST, OBC(NCL), GEN-EWS, and PWD candidates. full fee waiver on tuition fees is available for SC/ST candidates and candidates having an annual family income of less than 1 lakh and a two-third tuition fee waiver is applicable for candidates having an annual family income of fewer than 5 lakhs.

I choose this course at this institute because of the reputation of the institution, it is the second oldest engineering in India. The average package for the computer science and technology branch is 19.5 lakhs for 2023. IIEST from my point of view

The admission process is through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains and JoSSA or CSAB counselling. Students who qualify for JEE criteria and clear the mains exam can apply. Reservations to EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD students are offered. Female supernumerary seats are also there.

From the point of view of Job opportunities Computer Science is one of the best branches to choose from within engineering. Faculty: Student Ratio is about 1:90. Faculties are highly qualified all with a Doctorate degree and their teaching method is also quite efficient. Term exams are held twice per semester with moderate difficulty levels.

IIESTS - the best 4 years of my life

You have to give JEE Mains examination and secured a rank of below 40,000(unreserved) The application form is available online around January (session 1) and February (session 2) every year you can attempt the exam twice each year. The application fee is 1000 for general males and 800 rupees for general females, for SC/ST/PwD it is 500 for both males and females. The cutoff varies for each year in 2018 it is 75 for general 32 for OBC and 25 for SC, 16 for ST. The only improvement I want to see is less difference in cutoff marks.

I chose this course due to my rank and my interest in chemistry, If you want to research then this is the perfect course. The faculties are great, however, the curriculum needs a few modifications and better lab equipment is there. the male-female ratio in my year was 27:4. there was one mid sem and one end sem and the passing marks in total is 50. in 100 marks 30 was for mid sem, 20 for attendance and assignments and class tests rest 50 end sem.

Great environment,greenly campus.

The admission process is very simple, you have to sit in the entrance exam of jee main which is conducted by nta and you have to clear this entrance exam to get admission to college. The application form fee is 650. Every year this entrance is conducted 2 times.

Faculty is very good in our college and the student ratio with teachers is around 10:1. Teachers are well-educated from top colleges across the world. Every year 4 exam is conducted for 2 semesters. And if you study well and follow all class with notes your exam will definitely get easy.

2nd oldest engineering college.

I had given the JEE main entrance examination then I qualified for it and then the admission process was held through JOSSA counseling. For different courses, you can apply to different colleges. Application forms and other details you can get from the Exam conduction authority website. You can get a reservation through different categories like SC, ST, OBC, and Gen EWS through which you get benefits. As per my knowledge, the admission process is good till now.

Course Curriculum and Faculty members are excellent. And faculty members are qualified from different universities which is always a better opportunity for students to get benefits and use their experience to achieve something better. Faculty: Student Ratio is almost 1:12 which is good for any college. They are highly qualified from different universities and their teaching techniques are excellent. Terms exams were happening timely and it is easy to pass if you start reading from the initial course then it must be better to get a higher CGPA

Great Campus life

The admission process is simple, you have to give the JEE main entrance exam which is conducted by NTA, and then by JOSSA counseling, you will get admission to this college. Application fees are 650 rupees and every year this entrance exam is conducted 2 times and it is very simple.

The faculty members of our college are good. Teachers explain the topic very well and the student ratio in our department is 80:20. Faculty are doing their Ph.D. from top colleges across the world. Every year 2-semester exam is conducted and in each semester two exam is conducted mid sem and end sem if you study well and follow all classes you will score good marks and it's very easy for students as well to crack exam and score well.
