Likes
- One of the best in the country, as it was designed with the IITs in mind. I can assure you that here, you will have a 100% chance to grow in every aspect, be it your character, studies, or education.
- However, the learning experience was very good because there was a lot of field work involved.
- Some of the best companies come to recruit from our college, such as Google, Microsoft, IBM, etc. The highest package offered is 39 lakhs, and the lowest is 3 lakhs.
- There are some scholarships available and given to students based on excellence, such as great leadership, captaincy in the sports team, excellence in studies, being the topper of the department, excellent research, and so on.
- The Alumni Swimming Pool is a wonderful gift from our alumni association, GAABESU, to the residents of the institute.
- Hostel life is good with four people per room. The food is quite good, and there is wifi available. There is also a TV room and an indoor games room.
- IIEST Shibpur is the best college in Kolkata for mechanical engineering, according to the information I have looked up.
Dislike
- They dont have proper industrial or academic connections, and thats why no core aerospace company comes to our campus.
- My college provides a very limited number of internships, especially in the Information Technology Department.
- The placement cell is not very active and has failed to attract any core aerospace companies such as Boeing or Airbus.
- It gives a 2/3 tuition fee waiver to OBC and Gen if their income is less than 5 lakh.
- The gender ratio in B.Tech is very poor. There are very few girls in B.Tech courses.
- Moreover, the food in the mess is very bad, and so is the behavior of the mess staff.
- One bad thing is that there is no student body to defend or protest, and there is bad diversion by management.

Placement Experience:
From the 7th semester, students are eligible for campus placements. Companies like google, amazon, Microsoft, texas instruments, zs associates, Accenture, cognizant and 143 other companies visited the campus and 776 offers were made in 2022. The highest on-campus package was 45lakh offered by Microsoft for the SDE role. more than 95% was placed for CST and IT departments. I will sit for placement and will try to grab offers from top MNCs.
Remarks:
IIEST, Shibpur is an institute of national importance. The institute admits students through JEE mains examination. The application form can be accessed through jeemain.nta.nic.in website. The application fee is INR 1000 for gen/gen-ews/obc(ncl) male candidates and INR 500 for SC /ST/ PWD/ TRANSGENDER and FEMALE candidates. The dates for application of JEE mains 2023 paper 2 were from 14FEB-12MARCH 2023. Reservations are available for female, SC/ST, OBC(NCL), GEN-EWS, and PWD candidates. full fee waiver on tuition fees is available for SC/ST candidates and candidates having an annual family income of less than 1 lakh and a two-third tuition fee waiver is applicable for candidates having an annual family income of fewer than 5 lakhs.
Placement Experience:
Students of the 6th and 7th semesters become eligible for campus placements. Many companies come for on-campus placements. The average on-campus package offered is around 6-8 lakhs and the highest package offered was around 50 lakhs on campus. Around 80% of students get placed every year some of them go for higher studies through GATE.
Remarks:
The admission process is through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains and JoSSA or CSAB counselling. Students who qualify for JEE criteria and clear the mains exam can apply. Reservations to EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD students are offered. Female supernumerary seats are also there.

From the 7th semester we are eligible for placements the highest package was around 40 lakhs( Amazon) and the lowest is the mass placements like cognizant and Wipro. in my year around 80% of placements occurred with students getting multiple offers. I am doing a job after placement.
Remarks:
You have to give JEE Mains examination and secured a rank of below 40,000(unreserved) The application form is available online around January (session 1) and February (session 2) every year you can attempt the exam twice each year. The application fee is 1000 for general males and 800 rupees for general females, for SC/ST/PwD it is 500 for both males and females. The cutoff varies for each year in 2018 it is 75 for general 32 for OBC and 25 for SC, 16 for ST. The only improvement I want to see is less difference in cutoff marks.
Course Curriculum Overview:
Faculty is very good in our college and the student ratio with teachers is around 10:1. Teachers are well-educated from top colleges across the world. Every year 4 exam is conducted for 2 semesters. And if you study well and follow all class with notes your exam will definitely get easy.
Remarks:
The admission process is very simple, you have to sit in the entrance exam of jee main which is conducted by nta and you have to clear this entrance exam to get admission to college. The application form fee is 650. Every year this entrance is conducted 2 times.
Course Curriculum Overview:
Course Curriculum and Faculty members are excellent. And faculty members are qualified from different universities which is always a better opportunity for students to get benefits and use their experience to achieve something better. Faculty: Student Ratio is almost 1:12 which is good for any college. They are highly qualified from different universities and their teaching techniques are excellent. Terms exams were happening timely and it is easy to pass if you start reading from the initial course then it must be better to get a higher CGPA
Remarks:
I had given the JEE main entrance examination then I qualified for it and then the admission process was held through JOSSA counseling. For different courses, you can apply to different colleges. Application forms and other details you can get from the Exam conduction authority website. You can get a reservation through different categories like SC, ST, OBC, and Gen EWS through which you get benefits. As per my knowledge, the admission process is good till now.
Course Curriculum Overview:
The faculty members of our college are good. Teachers explain the topic very well and the student ratio in our department is 80:20. Faculty are doing their Ph.D. from top colleges across the world. Every year 2-semester exam is conducted and in each semester two exam is conducted mid sem and end sem if you study well and follow all classes you will score good marks and it's very easy for students as well to crack exam and score well.
Remarks:
The admission process is simple, you have to give the JEE main entrance exam which is conducted by NTA, and then by JOSSA counseling, you will get admission to this college. Application fees are 650 rupees and every year this entrance exam is conducted 2 times and it is very simple.
