I chose this course because of my interest and I also did my bachelor's in economics. I mostly prefer economics in a more quantitative nature. This course taught me some of the intermediate and advanced concepts of the usual economics papers. I also had some specialization papers like Econometric Methods and Advanced Quantitative Techniques. The faculty-Student ratio is about 10:54 or 5:27. Manisha Sharma is our Head of the Department. Most of the professors are having Ph.D. from Gauhati University and IIT Guwahati and some are still pursuing. I like the overall teaching method of the faculty. However, I do have to mention Dr. Gataun Mazumdar who is excellent at interacting with the students and always use to give some real-world examples whenever he used to teach us. He is specialized in Macroeconomics and has a Ph.D. degree from Amsterdam. The exams are usually held on time but due to the covid situation, the exams were a bit late. The paper level was quite moderate.
Eligibility criterion: At least 60% passing percentage in graduation for appearing in the entrance exam. For the entrance-based (CPGEE), the eligibility criteria of Honors/Major in the qualifying UG Degree does not specify the concerned subject only, admissions shall be based on CPGEE scores. Application form can be found on the official site: cotton university.ac.in, application fee: Rs. 800, Application dates: 25th of Oct 2020 to 10th of November 2020. Cut off of the entrance for economics was around 90 marks (for UR).
I was always interested in the field of chemistry and since cotton university is one of the finest colleges in Assam so I decided to do my graduation in chemistry from Cotton University. Also, many of our school seniors passed from here with great placement benefits. the faculty-student ratio is satisfactory in almost every department while certain needs of faculty are seen in some of the newly established departments but the college authority somehow managed to provide better education to students by appointing guest faculties. teaching methods are very understanding and interesting and we never get bored with class. Also, the teachers are highly qualified. Exams are seasonally followed by finals every semester. And if you sincerely attend all the lectures there is no fear of failing the test
Earlier the admission process was based on merit which is the best of three marks from the HS but from this session admissions will be based on CUET UG score meanwhile there are certain reservations for students belonging to Assam. And the other reservations are based on the general reservation system for SC/ST/OBC/pws etc. All the details, application forms, and important dates are available on the university website.
I wanted to choose statistics from the beginning as this subject has a large scope. Our faculty members including the teachers are very helpful, friendly, and motivating. They guide us through everything and show us a path.
The admission process was merit-based and simple. We waited some days till the application form was available then we filled it up till we were selected for admission. Then we had to give the admission fee and choose the courses required.
from the 5th semester onwards you are eligible for campus placements on the top of my head there was one company named TECH variable that made a job offer to 7 students and 22 students were offered a paid internship highest package offered was 15LPA around 75% of students got placed whereas my plan id to get a masters degree.
You were required to fill out the form on the University website and there only you can get a brochure about the fee structure and any information You would require an improvement and would have offline counseling after online admissions.
To be honest, the Botany Department of our University, our department according to to be is the most peaceful on the entire campus. It is because the faculty is very good and supportive. All the professors and Assistant Professors are highly educated with doctorate degrees from reputed Universities and they are well-experienced in their field. It feels nice to be with them on my journey. They are good mentors. They show proper manners when they are with their students. Very well disciplined. And secondly, our department is a little away from the main campus and it is situated in a beautiful scenario. The department has a garden with so many flowers and botanical plants which makes it unique on its own. Better to visit our department during winter. Too beautiful! And lastly, about the term exams, we give 3 semesters in a year. Thats upsetting! But it has its significance. But as it is a govt. Institute you can't expect more resources from the department.
In the case of Cotton University, there is no Entrance Exam. Your selection is completely based on your 12th class Percentage. There are reservation systems based on caste. If you are SC ST EWS or OBC or any other category with disabled included, there is a reservation system, particularly for them. There is also a fee waiver system which is very helpful for those with economically weaker backgrounds who are financially weak. They will take comparatively less money from you than the others. As this is a prestigious government University, only students having a very good percentage are taken into admission. And, compared to other private universities, the fees are very very low and affordable even without any reservations or fee waivers. The admission forms are available in the University portal only during the time of admission. It is previously notified on the official website. Better to be alert from before if you are interested.
As i am doing BA in Hindi. The teachers are very good, friendly and always ready to help us. In every semester exams will be conducted twice time one is the mid-term exam and the last is the final exam. It's not hard to get pass an exam.
The admission process is very easy. There is no entrance exam to get admission to this university. You can find all the information on the official website of the cotton university. Yes, there is a reservation seat for St, SC, and OBC.
