Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati college review

Hostel Facilities:

The hostel is very well cleaned here with every floor being cleaned every two days. All the rooms are cleaned twice every week. Meal quality is fine with various food items available to eat. Hostels are very much affordable compared to other colleges. The locality is around 1-2km from the college campus.

Hostel Fee : INR 25000 per year

Campus Life:

The annual Tech fest is called Entropy here students from various other colleges took part in various categories and win prizes worth lakhs. Books and journals are available at the library. The classrooms are very well-furnished and ventilated. Sports fests are conducted every year. Various types of sports facilities are available at IIITG. There are various cultural clubs and social groups which are generally run by students under Faculty's supervision.

Worth but it isn't

Hostel Facilities:

Hostels are all well equipped, each room is shared by two people and has an attached washroom. It has good wifi connection, 24 hours water and electricity facility make more comfort and the rest its not sufficient for whole strength

Hostel Fee : INR 28000 per year

Campus Life:

The campus is good over here but due to the lack of infrastructure, it's not too enjoyable. It doesn't have sports facilities as most of the part is under construction. But the infrastructure built by now is good enough. Clubs are mostly good

Good Placements

Hostel Facilities:

The meal quality in the mess is not that good. The canteen has good food. Mess fees are 4000 per month. Most students take Hostel. Hostel fees are 12500 per sem. Rented rooms and PGs are at some distance from the college.

Campus Life:

Yuvaan is the main annual fest and Entropy is the tech fest. Fest is conducted during March. All course books are available in the library. The classrooms are good and have AC in them. Sports activities are not that good. No basketball court is present on the campus.

Hostel Facilities:

Each student is provided with a table, a bed. If you're undergraduate, you have to share room with another batchmate on a bunk bed. Rooms also have attached toilets and washrooms. Mess facilities are also provided.

Hostel Fee : INR 12500 per year

Campus Life:

We have one tech fest Entropy and a cultural fest Yuvaan. Both juniors and seniors are very active in participating in events. There are a few technical and cultural clubs too and they're all promoted equally.

Campus Life:

If you want to enjoy it, the college will provide a lot of opportunities and based upon your interest you have to fetch that. As we have only to UG branch so it's very easy for you to make the bond with everyone. All books are available in the library.

Internship Opportunities

Hostel Facilities:

Hostel rooms are quite nice and big there are two types of rooms available in the hostel one which is bigger in size and does not contain attached bathrooms and the other which is smaller has attached bathrooms.

Hostel Fee : INR 25000 per year

Campus Life:

The campus life is very good and sports facilities are also good they update infrastructure timely and clubs in the college organize sessions timely with exploring new technologies and in a week or two there is mostly a session which is conducted.

Ques. As the hostel rooms at IIIT Guwahati are built for 1 person a room but from this year, it is going to be 2 per room, is it not congested and is anything going to change for the hostel?

Yes, as the rooms were designed and built for a single person per room, thus adjusting two people will make it a little congested. But it would not be a problem as the students will be provided with double-decker beds. There will be proper space for two tables and chairs. The rooms in the hostel have proper ventilation. If the student wants to sleep on the floor, they can remove the double-decker beds from their room. They will be provided with two cupboards in one room, each for a student. The students can put all their belongings there. In comparison with some other institutions such as IIT BHU, where three of the beds are arranged in U-shaped with a table in the center of the room, the condition of IIIT Guwahati is much better. Even after knowing all these facts, if there is any doubt about the room then you should visit the campus or talk with the current students over there and try to know about any ongoing issue about the same....Read more

IIIT Guwahati offers decent hostel accommodations to students. The on-campus hostel facilities for boys can accommodate up to 400 students and the girls' hostels have the accommodation capacity of 100 students. First-year students get double occupancy rooms. Ques. How are the mess and canteens at IIIT, Guwahati?

IIIT Guwahati has two canteens, one in the hostel building and one in the academic building. The canteen at IIIT Guwahati is average. It is just like the ones that are common among all the government colleges. It is not much developed and high standard, however, it serves its purpose. The canteens at both the girls’ and boys’ hostel are allowed to operate till late at night. The canteen in the academic building is operated from 10 am to 11 pm. There is also a food van available that delivers food directly to the hostel. The mess service at IIIT Guwahati is just fine. It serves three-time meals; breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is also a tea facility for an extra charge. It is not included in the mess charge and has to be paid separately. The breakfast and lunch served are usually vegetarian. At the dinner, the students are given an option to choose between a vegetarian special item and a non-vegetarian special item. The taste is good and the food is of satisfactory level. The non-vegetarian food served is really good. Both the mess and canteen are not high profile but are satisfactory. Now, tenders are offered, thus making a competition between caterers which is a positive sign for improvement and better service....Read more
