Assam Science and Technology University was established in 2010 in Guwahati. The university offers various courses in the field of Science and Technology. ASTU Assam has schools in fields of Engineering, Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Management and Architecture, Planning & Design and offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral courses. Eligibility for UG courses is 10 + 2 passed and the same for PG courses is a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Selection for B.Tech and M.Tech is done on the basis of the entrance exam (Assam CEE and GATE respectively) whereas, for all other courses, admission is done on the basis of merit in the previous qualifying examination.

Assam Science and Technology University Admission

For Undergraduate courses:

The eligibility criteria for UG courses is that the candidate must have passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examinations from a recognized board.
The selection for the B.Tech program will be done on the basis of the Assam CEE score of the candidate. Eligible candidates need to appear for this entrance examination before applying for admission.
For all the other courses, admission is done on the basis of merit in the previous qualifying examinations.

For Postgraduate courses:

Candidates willing to apply for admission in postgraduate courses must have completed their bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Selection for M.Tech is done on the basis of GATE score and for all other courses, based on the merit in the previous qualifying examination.

Assam Science and Technology University Facilities

Library: Stretching across 12,000 sq. ft. the area with spacious reading areas, the university central library has a collection of over 20,000 volumes of books as well as a large number of national and international journals.
Hostel: There is a boys hostel present with a bedding capacity of 345. It is an in-campus hostel.
Sports: The university caters to the needs of the sport of the students very well. It has a basketball court, cricket ground, football ground, squash court, swimming pool, volleyball court.

Ans. The B.Tech Applicants of ASTU must be a citizen of India and must be a permanent resident of Assam with a valid PRF provided by a competent Authority.

Ques. Is there an Age limit for B.Tech admission to ASTU?

Ans. The University follows the guidelines of the state examination authority that is Assam CEE and complies with it. These are the requirements:

The applicants must not be below 17 years of age as on August 01 of the admission year.
The upper age limit of the candidates for B.Tech admission in Assam is 21 years.
For SC/ ST categories, the upper age limit is 25 years.
B.Sc graduates who wish to pursue B.Tech must note that the upper age limit for them is 22 years.

Ques. What are the reservation and scholarship policies of ASTU?

Ans. The University follows the reservation and scholarship policies as prescribed by the State Government.

Ques. Is there any way that a candidate can get admission to a B.Tech program without attempting the entrance examination?

Ans. Candidates who have more than 85% of marks in Class 12 and hold the first position in the Assam higher secondary examinations are exempted from entrance test. These students are eligible for direct admission in government engineering colleges.

Assam Engineering College is the oldest Engineering College in northeast India. It has a strong alumni base all over the globe. Its placement record itself is a very strong reason for one opting for this college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Term Exams are very structured. They are decided by ASTU. The difficulty level of the exams here is just like any other engineering end-semester exam. A combination of difficult and easy papers come in the exams.

Decent College

The admission process is quite simple. The students have to go through the common entrance examination conducted by ASTU and whoever clears it with a minimum rank of 500, easily gets admitted to the college.

The teachers conduct regular exams after each module. The midterm exams take place on time and are quite easy to pass. But the end-term examinations are quite difficult and require a good amount of preparation.

Good academics and decent Placements

To get into Assam Engineering College, one must clear CEE ( Common Entrance Examination), Assam. Since ACE is the best college under CEE, one must perform well and a general category student must secure at least 500 ranks to easily get admitted to AEC.

I am a student in the Electrical Engineering Department. If I focus on my course only, I can easily say that the faculty members are hard-working. They take regular class tests and assignments. They are well qualified and put in a lot of effort for the students. Though exceptions may arise every time.

AEC: The Grand Old College

The eligibility for doing Btech in AEC is to clear the CEE entrance exam whose eligibility is to be below 21 years of age during the exam and must also have a permanent residence certificate of Assam. The application form for CEE can be found on the ASTU website itself. The fee for the application is Rs. 1000 and generally, the dates start in March and end around May. The admission is easy and simple, we just need to keep checking the admission portal regularly for updates.

I chose Btech in electrical engineering because this allows me to go to core sector jobs as well as IT jobs. The student-to-faculty ratio is 18:1 in our department. The professors are all PhD and master qualified. Just like any other college, some teachers are very good at their skills while others struggle a bit at teaching but overall it depends on the student. The class tests carry high importance and are done timely and the finals are also done timely and can be passed with a decent effort but for good marks, more than a decent effort is required.

The College Which Helps You Find your Self

To get admission to ASSAM ENGINEERING COLLEGE, one has to take CEE, Which has a total of 120 questions, the right answer has +4 marks and the wrong answer earns -1. After that within a month, the result is announced and students are called for counseling. SC/ST and OBC and Economically backward students get a lower cut-off than the general rank list, thru CEE one can get admission in AEC, JEC, JIST, BBEC, etc. under ASTU.

I choose this course because Civil Engineering has a vast field, it's totally based on knowing nature because Civil engineering basically means working with nature for the betterment of society. There are almost 40 faculty and AEC has around 100 students each year. Most of the faculties are Mtech or Ph.D. from IITs. Exams are held according to the ASTU rules and regulations, there if you are caught cheating the punishment is debarring from giving further exam for the whole semester. And the exams are held regularly, CED AEC even conducts 3 MTEs before endsem.

A detailed review of Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology

Overall development of the budding civil technocrats by giving exposure to practical and real-life problems through organizing construction-site visits and industrial training, conducting expert lectures, etc. All the application and admission details are available on the official website of the institute. There are reservations based on entrance exams, and class 12 pass percentage. The process should be easy enough for everyone.

I took this course because I wanted to learn more about fieldwork and also about the construction of various civil engineering projects. 1:3 is the faculty: student ratio. The faculty is good concerning all the fields of work they do. Their teaching is much improved and also their teaching method is quite good. Every semester 2 midterms are held and at the end of the semester, and end-semester exam is conducted. It is much more difficult to pass the exams cause 30% of the passing marks to come from the KPI.
