Indian Maritime University (IMU) previously known as National ship Design and Research Centre (NSDRC) is situated in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. It was established in 14 November 2008 and is a Central University under Govt. of India. IMU was established as teaching- cum -research institutes under the aegis of the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, with Chennai as headquarters. It was set up to promote maritime studies, training, research and extension with focus on emerging areas like oceanography, maritime history, maritime laws, maritime security, search and rescue, transportation of dangerous cargo, environmental studies and other related fields, and to achieve excellence in these areas. IMU also has 24 affiliated institutes all around India. 

Indian Maritime University (IMU) will be announcing the IMU CET 2021 Result on March 22, 2021. Candidates can visit the official website to check their respective exam results. 

IMU mainly has 6 campuses namely Chennai, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai Port Cochi, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam.

Indian Maritime University Visakhapatnam Courses

For UG Courses

IMU Vizag only offers B.Tech as UG course in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.

Eligibility: Candidate should have completed 12th class with minimum 60% in PCM and 50% in English from any recognized board and also passes CET (Common Entrance Test) scores.

Candidate can also apply for lateral entry in 2nd and 3rd year of B.Tech, for which student must have completed Diploma or B.Sc. with at least 60% marks in aggregate.

For PG Courses

M.Tech and MBA is available in IMU Visakhapatnam campus.

M.Tech is present in two fields such as:

  • Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering
  • Dredging and Harbor Engineering

While, MBA in International Transportation and Logistics Management.

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must be Engineer graduate with minimum 60% in aggregate for admission in M.Tech course.
  • For admission in MBA, candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 50% aggregate marks.

For above courses, there will be Common Entrance Test (CET) which will be committed by Indian Maritime University (IMU).
