December 16, 2021: The Government of India has entered into an air bubble agreement with Australia to offer easy travel between both countries.
Under the bilateral India air bubble agreement, India and Australia will resume the flights which were paused due to the ongoing pandemic situation in the world. Both the countries will now be able to enjoy safe travel from India to Australia and vice versa.
As per the reports, the agreement has been signed between 33 countries in the world, which allows students of India to safely travel to and from the collaborative countries with ease even during the pandemic.
Following the bilateral India air bubble agreement, those Indian nationals who wish to travel to Australia will be permitted with the travel pass only if they hold a valid visa of the destination country.
Furthermore, the same will be applicable to students of Australia who are heading to Australia. The 33 countries will resume travel facilities for all nationals and residents of their countries under strict covid-19 pandemic safety guidelines.

India, Australia Bubble Agreement 2021: Key Highlights
Under the India, Australia Bubble Agreement 2021, the Ministry of India will follow the below guidelines for outbound flights from India:
- To travel to India, nationals, and residents of Australia and other countries should hold a visa valid at the time of travel.
- No entry will be given to those who do not hold a valid visa.
- Indian nationals of Nepal or Bhutan residents who wish to travel to Australia or New Zealand are required to have a valid visa of their destination country.
- Airlines are directed to ensure that no travel restrictions will be offered to residents of India, Nepal, or Bhutan nationals.
- India, Nepal, or Bhutan nationals will be further provided with travel permits to travel to the destination country with an issue of ticket/boarding.
- Seamen of foreign nationalities who have a valid Indian passport will have travel permission from the Ministry of Shipping under this agreement.
The countries that have signed a pact under the current bilateral India air bubble agreements include major countries like Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Maldives, Russia, Singapore, UAE, UK, and the US.
Additionally, Seychelles, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Kuwait, Mauritius, Tanzania, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bhutan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Rwanda, Oman, Qatar, and other countries have also signed the agreement.
