What is MAT? MAT or Management Aptitude Test is a national level entrance test conducted by AIMA for admission into MBA/PGDM programs offered by over 600 B-Schools across India. AIMA requires the following minimum Eligibility Criteria for students who wish to appear for MAT 2022.

  • Age: No Upper Age Limit is set by AIMA to take MAT exam. 
  • Minimum Academic Qualification: Candidates must have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized University. 
  • Final Year Candidates: Candidates in their final year of UG programs like B.A., B.Sc, B.Com, B.Tech, etc. can also apply.
  • Minimum Marks Required: AIMA does not prescribe a minimum percentage of marks in graduation for appearing in MAT exam. However, for admission into colleges, candidates will be required to obtain a minimum percentage that varies from college to college.
  • Work Experience: No Minimum work experience is essential for taking MAT 2022 exam.
  • Number of Attempts: No limit on the number of attempts.

MAT 2022 Registration: Process, Fees, and Documents Required

Candidates should ensure that before they register themselves for MAT 2022, they fulfill MAT Eligibility Criteria as in the event of any discrepancy in information, candidates will be held responsible. Important points to keep in mind regarding MAT Registration 2022:

MAT 2022: System Requirements for IBT Mode

Candidates who choose to give MAT 2022 in Remote Proctored IBT (Internet Based Test) mode should ensure that they comply with the following system requirements to avoid any last-minute hassle.

  • Candidates should have a computer system (either a laptop or desktop) with a webcam and a mic.
  • A proper Internet connection with minimum bandwidth of 512 kbps.
  • Installation of MSB (Mettle Secure Browser) is mandatory.
  • Permanent fee space of at least 65 MB on the hard drive.
  • Disk space should be 2 GB.
  • Windows OS version 7 or above is recommended.

What is MAT Scoring Pattern?

MAT scoring pattern is slightly different from other competitive exams as it seeks to assess a candidate’s ability to pursue a postgraduate program in management. For correct interpretation of MAT 2022 Scores, candidates should consider the following points.

  1. Unlike other competitive exams, where the marking standards will vary depending on the college or University, MAT 2022 scorecard will serve as one standard for all candidates.
  2. Since MAT is taken on different dates and modes, there is always the possibility of MAT tests differing in their difficulty level.
  3. In order to standardize this, AIMA has opted for a scaling process so that scores of candidates are equally scaled.

MAT 2022 Composite Score 

  1. The candidate’s scorecard will consist of six scores, these will consist of scores obtained in the five sections- Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, and Indian & Global Environment and a Composite Score
  2. For Calculation of the Composite scores, four sections except Indian and Global environment will be taken into consideration.
  3. In addition, this candidate’s scorecard will also contain a percentile for each section which will determine the percentage of candidates who scored below the specific candidate with respect to the entire candidates who took the test.

Ques: Where should I register for MAT 2022?

Ans: Candidates who wish to appear for MAT 2022 can register themselves on the official website of AIMA. After registering themselves on the official website, candidates can start filling the application form.


Ques: Will the G.K section be considered for MAT 2022 composite score calculation?

Ans: No, for calculation of the composite score for MAT 2022, Indian and Global Environment Score will not be considered, for the other four sections equal weightage will be assigned to each of them.


Ques: When will the counseling process for MAT 2022 be held?

Ans: AIMA does not conduct a centralized counseling process. So the counseling process for MAT 2022 will be conducted by the participating institutes after the declaration of MAT 2022 result. 


Ques. What are the exam pattern and marking scheme for MAT 2022?

Ans. As per MAT 2022 exam pattern,  there will be 200 questions divided equally into 5 sections- Intelligence & Critical Reasoning, Mathematical Skills, Language Skills, Data Analysis & Sufficiency, Indian & Global Environment. Each question will carry 1 mark and there will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.


Ques. Are MAT 2022 Application forms available in offline mode?

Ans. No, MAT Application forms are available only on the official website of AIMA in online mode. Candidates need to visit the official website and click on the ‘Register’ link to fill MAT 2022 application form. The application procedure is the same for all modes- PBT, CBT, and IBT.


Ques. What is the duration of MAT 2022 exam?

Ans. MAT 2022 exam duration for all 3 modes is 2 hours and 30 minutes to attempt 200 questions. Also, there is no sectional time limit in MAT exam. Hence, candidates need to manage their time intelligently while attempting MAT exam.


Ques. How many colleges in India accept MAT scores for MBA admission?

Ans. MAT scores are accepted by more than 700 colleges in India for MBA admissions. Some of the top MAT score accepting colleges include XIME Bangalore, SIESCOMS Navi Mumbai, JIMS Delhi, BIMTECH Noida, Christ University, VIT Vellore, and GITAM University.

Hi Sadim, Candidate can opt for both the tests i.e. PBT and CBT by paying an extra fees of 1100/- in addition to 1650/-. Candidates opting for both PBT and CBT will have the benefit of selecting additional 2 Management Institutions for sending their scores in addition to existing option of selecting 5 Management Institutions i.e. they can select 7 Management Institutions in total.

Hi Pradeepraj, IBT mode is similar to CBT mode exam as both are online-based examinations. But, in IBT mode you are allowed to appear for the examination from your home itself following the guidelines set for this mode of examination.

Hi Nikkil, there are no restrictions on appearing for MAT. The authority have not prescribed any number of attempts. MAT is conducted four times a year and you can appear for all four phases.
