Best Professor at Australian National University

KG

ANU is the topmost Australian University and the only one funded by the national government. The supervisor was young and enthusiastic showed complete interest in my application and supported me throughout till I got accepted into the Ph.D. program. The facilities provided by ANU were excellent with a range of equipment and awesome labs.

Course Curriculum :

My Ph.D. program was a full research curriculum without courses. The research work was excellent providing a different level of training both in the lab as well as on diverse equipment which coincides well with the current trends in the industry.

Exams :

My score in IELTS was 7.5 and it was the only requirement to enter the doctoral program at my University, other than submitting a research proposal and convincing your prospective supervisor of my potential.

Placement :

Top companies visit regularly for mid-course internship opportunities or final placements. The University regularly conducts job fairs for current and graduating students. The median salary is around 75,000 AUD/year in line with the Australian income of a post-graduate student.

Internship :

No, I didn't enroll in an internship as my program was full of on-campus research work.

Events :

ANU campus provides all the necessary facilities, with on-site healthcare facilities, 5 different libraries, 10 research schools with state-of-the-art infrastructure, weekly fun activities, and events organized by student organizations. Everyday sporting events for those who are interested and a campus-wide free super-speed Wifi network. The accommodation facilities are excellent with both fully-catered and self-catered arrangements.

Fees :

The doctoral program fee was 36,000 AUD/year but all students are either covered by the supervisor funding or by the university scholarship to technically make it free for Ph.D. students.

Scholarship :

I received an ANU Ph.D. Scholarship covering a stipend of 25,000 AUD/year and HDR Fee Remission Fellowship to cover fees of 36,000 AUD/year. Both were applicable for 4 years or the end of the Ph.D., whichever ends earlier. The scholarship application was submitted by the University on my behalf.

Faculty :

ANU has some of the topmost faculty around Australia, that are well-versed in the subject and have in-depth experience. My supervisor was extremely supportive and communicated regularly to look into the research progress and discuss any issues both in and out of the lab. He shared his experience of work and knowledge to create a cordial mentor-mentee relationship.

Hostel :

The rooms are decent and give you enough space for both study and sleep. All are equipped with central heating and cooling and have both shared and single accommodations. Each hostel comes under the ANU Wifi network for free to students.
