I chose the University of Ottawa's Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in accounting because of the amazing Co-op program they have and I loved the feel of the university and its location. I learned about the school at the Ontario University Fair and then toured it and it totally lived up to my expectations. I only applied to two universities and got into uOttawa a week after I applied with a pretty large scholarship.

Course Curriculum :

I am not a huge fan of having to take courses from all aspects of business, such as management, Human Resources, organizational behaviour, marketing, social context of business, etc. I am a numbers person so taking courses with little to no numbers or formulas significantly lowers my averages and CGPA

Exams :

I took an accounting course in grade 11 in high school and got 98% in the course, so I knew accounting was the stream that I wanted to go into. I liked how the University of Ottawa had a general business for all students in the first two years, giving me a chance to further explore business subjects to see if they would interest me. I also chose uOttawa because it was one of the two schools I wanted to go to that had an extensive co-op program.

Fees :

The fee structure is good, students receiving OSAP get an extended deadline to pay. There are a few fees you can opt out of. There are numerous internal scholarships available that students can apply for as well as numerous scholarships awarded to students without the need to apply for them. The university also offers a merit scholarship

Examination Structure :

It differs by the course but it is very fair

Faculty :

The Telfer School of Management is an amazing place to be in. The professors are great and knowledgeable, the whole faculty is like its own little community, they have many supplementary workshops to help prepare you for co-op and the workforce.
