12 Researchers from Jamia Millia Islamia have been Shortlisted for the PMRF


New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) pleasedly announced that 12 of its research scholars have been offered the Prime Minister Research Fellowship (PMRF) under the Lateral Entry Scheme of the May 2022 campaign. 

As per the PMRF Coordinator, JMI Professor Abdul Quaiyum Ansari, each researcher shall receive INR 70,000 for the first two years, INR 75,000 for the third year, and INR 80,000 again for the fourth and fifth years, respectfully. In addition, each fellow will get grant money of INR 2 Lakhs annually through the PMRF.

A total of INR 10 Lakhs over five years shall be granted by PMRF. In 2021, six research researchers were chosen for the PMRF via the Lateral Entry Scheme of the December 2020 push, demonstrating that the JMI has hugely enhanced its performance.

The university has also released the names of students, their recommenders, and the Departments/Centres chosen for the May 2022 Lateral Entry Scheme: 

Nadeem Ahmad, suggested by Professor Quamrul Hasan - Civil Engineering. 

Professor Tarikul Islam - Electrical Engineering has nominated Mohammad Ariz. 

Mohammad Masood was suggested by Professor Mohammad Mahfuzul Haque – Biotechnology.

Dr. Kapil Dev - Biotechnology, suggested Gulnaz Tabassum. Professor Seemi Farhat Basir - Biosciences suggested Ayesha Aiman. Sakeena Masrat, suggested by Dr. Rafiq Ahmad. Mudasir Younis Sofi, recommended by Dr. Mohd. Ajmal Khan – Physics, 

Shah Masheerul Alam was suggested by Dr. Javed Ali – Physics, and Shelly Bhardwaj, suggested by Dr. Amit Kumar, Department of Chemistry.

Sneha Shukla was recommended by Professor Saif A. Chaudhry – Chemistry. Dr. Shama Parveen – CIRBSc, suggested Abdus Samad. Dr. Mohan C. Joshi has recommended Nuha Abeer Khan for MCARS.

Professor Najma Akhtar, the vice-chancellor of JMI, wished the university's winning applicants well and stated, "JMI stands for excellence and aims to give its students every conceivable opportunity to achieve great heights."

She continued, "This success underscores the university's emphasis on high-quality research, and I'm especially pleased that six of the twelve students are female. I believe that it will motivate other university students, especially female students, to excel in science and engineering research."
