In fact, the highest compensation package for the 2020 batch was INR 43.31 lakh. This figure has already been surpassed by a number of students who have received packages of INR 45 lakhs.

Since there is still a lot of time left in the placement drive, this figure is only expected to go higher. During the first phase of the placement drive, most of the students who were hired were from core engineering branches.

One student each from the Electrical & Electronics and Computer Science branch have been offered jobs by a Japanese MNC called Money Forward Inc. Their compensation package stood at INR 31.77 lakhs.

The placement figures for IIT Dhanbad in BTech courses had continuously been declining for the past couple of years. In 2018, the placement figure stood at 84%, in 2019, it was 76% and in 2020 it was 65%.

However, this year the placement figure is expected to improve and go up despite the negative impact of the covid-19.
