AICTE Approves New UG Course of Osmania University

New Delhi: AICTE has approved Osmania University College of Engineering's (OUCE) newly created undergraduate programmes in Mining Engineering and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), as well as a postgraduate degree in Mining for the 2022-23 academic year.

The Osmania University College of Engineering (OUCE) has also been given permission to raise the number of students enrolled in the BE Electronics and Communication Engineering programme from 50 to 60. It has also been granted permission to extend all existing six undergraduates and 18 postgraduate programmes of OUCE for the current academic year.

OUCE principal Dr Sriram Venkatesh said, “The approval and recognition of the new ME programme in mining will ensure the AICTE scholarship to the tune of Rs 13,000 for GATE-qualified students”.

Ten out of thirty spots in the Bio-Medical Engineering programme will be allocated for TS EAMCET qualifying candidates who finished BiPC in Intermediate.

All such applicants will be enrolled under the self-finance category and must complete a maths bridging course. Until now, applicants for this programme could only be admitted if they had completed MPC in Intermediate.

Meanwhile, the OUCE, a self-governing organisation, is planning to implement a revamped curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate courses this year. The institution has redesigned 40% of the curriculum in order to boost students' employability.

“The revised syllabus will be applicable to students, who enrol in the 2022-23 academic year while existing students will have the same syllabus. Inputs from industry and alumni have been incorporated into the revised syllabus in all UG and PG courses which the respective Boards of Studies are approving,” Venkatesh stated.
