AIIMS Patna Set to Introduce B.Sc. Paramedical Academic Courses and PDCC Courses from Upcoming July Session; Read Details Here


AIIMS Patna: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna is planning to introduce B.Sc. Paramedical academic courses and one year post doctor certificate courses (PDCC) from the July 2021 session.

AIIMS Patna Director Dr. Prabhat Kumar Singh said that the Institute will be placing the introduction of B.Sc courses and PDCC courses before the standing academic committee. AIIMS Patna has also done some ground work and has only 5 months duration before the admission in these courses start.

AIIMS Patna Dean, Dr. Umesh Bhadani said that the newly introduced courses are demand-driven and will generate skill manpower for operation theatre, radiology and medical laboratory.

AIIMS Patna: B.Sc Paramedical Academic Courses

The B.Sc courses will be of three and a half years duration and will be offered in three disciplines listed below:

  • Operation Theatre and Anaesthesiology
  • Medical Technology in Radiography
  • Medical Laboratory Technology

AIIMS Patna has received an approval in principle from the Director for introducing these courses. There will be 16-20 students in each of the three B.Sc paramedical courses.

At present, the institute is designing the syllabus of these courses along with teaching-learning methodology and rules to govern the course and assessment of students.

The other AIIMS institutes like in Jodhpur, Bhopal and Raipur already have B.Sc Paramedical Academic Courses.

The operation theatre services at AIIMS Patna will resume from January 11, 2021. However, the trauma and emergency services will remain suspended as the institute continues to serve COVID-19 patients.

Dr. Singh said, " We don't wish to compromise in our quality of treatment, so the emergency and trauma services will remain suspended for the time being."

From July 10, since the state government declared AIIMS Patna as a dedicated COVID-19 hospital, the institute stopped outdoor patient department (OPD) consultation.
