AKTU B.Tech Program To be Revised in Accordance with NEP 2020

New Delhi: AKTU is planning to upgrade its B.Tech programme in accordance with the NEP-2020. According to vice-chancellor Professor Pradeep Kumar Mishra, the curriculum would feature numerous exit alternatives such as a certificate, BTech minor degree, and honours degree in addition to a regular degree with a choice-based credit system.

Mishra stated that there would be B. Tech Honours, B.Tech Minor, B.Tech Regular, and B.Tech that permit students to graduate after three years. Under the NEP-2020, AKTU is changing the curriculum. The decision was made during the Tuesday meeting of the board of studies.

AKTU will give an honours degree in B.Tech for specialisation in a certain subject, making it simpler for students to get jobs. For instance, a computer science student may choose honours with a specialisation in one part of the topic. After completing three years of the traditional four-year B.Tech programme of AKTU, students will gain one year of industrial experience.

Students will also be able to enter and quit the course at their convenience. If a student is unable to finish four years of B.Tech for any reason, he will have the option of leaving after three years. According to the VC, such students would be considered for the Bachelor of Vocational Education degree so that they do not have any challenges in the future.

Mishra stated that changing the curriculum is required for the implementation of NEP 2020. The course should emphasise the students' overall growth.

The varsity had a discussion to educate and compile exam papers in both Hindi and English to make it easier for Hindi medium students to continue engineering degrees. Aside from that, the VC stated that it was agreed to evaluate the BTech syllabus.
