AKTU Shuts Down 22 Technical Colleges from Academic Session 2020

About 22 technical institutes in Uttar Pradesh affiliated to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) will be closed down from the new session of 2020.

As per reports, these colleges affiliated to AKTU, are based in western parts of Uttar Pradesh. About 12 colleges including Sachdeva Engineering College will be shut from the forthcoming semester, whereas the rest 10 will be closed once the old students complete their degrees.

AKTU Affiliated Colleges Apply for Closure

Earlier, these institutes had applied to the university for their closure. The decreasing number of enrolments is believed to be the reason behind shutting down these colleges.

In 2019, over 54 colleges affiliated to AKTU closed engineering disciplines while some closed MPharma and MBA courses as well. Such colleges removed 30-60 seats in MBA, MPharma and Engineering courses.

As per officials, it is because of the older students who have not completed their degree, these 10 colleges will not wrap up now. The declining trend of admissions to these colleges is the foremost reason for authorities claiming a shutdown.

As per Prof. Vineet Kansal Pratulpati, AKTU, if colleges cannot deliver good quality education, facilitate right faculty and provide placements, students will not enrol there. As a fact, AKTU will focus on running colleges that provide better faculty, placements and other facilities to its students.
