Anna University to Start an Online Certificate Course in Traditional Therapeutic Medical System

New Delhi: Anna University is all set to roll out an online certificate programme in Siddha's traditional therapeutic medical system.

A Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Anna University and the National Institute of Siddha and Hospital at Tambaram will be signed in this regard, and the latter will assist in developing the course material.

The university stated that the MoU would be signed within 15 days after the upcoming syndicate meeting, where the course proposal will be thoroughly discussed, consequently, the course is anticipated to be launched within two months.

Speaking about the introduction of the certificate course , Vice-Chancellor R Velraj said that it is essential to promote the efficacy and value of traditional systems of medicine like Siddha and Ayurveda for the sake of humanity as a whole.

He added that since Siddha is very popular in Tamil Nadu,the university aims to popularise the state's heritage globally.

Besides, the university authorities are of the opinion that, in addition to improving their knowledge, people could benefit from these lessons in other ways.

With the course syllabus being ready, the course content will be developed soon, so that it could be completed within 40–45 hours, they said.

According to the varsity authorities, the proposal for the course coincides with the university's invitation to participate in the Ministry of External Affairs' e-Vidya Bharati and e-Aarogya Bharati (e-VBAB) network project, which aims to offer high-quality education to students in Africa through web portals.

The authorities of the university believe that this will aid in spreading Siddha among African pupils.

Along with Siddha and Ayurveda, Anna University intends to offer online certificate programmes in a number of cutting-edge fields, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and energy storage technology.

Meanwhile, the varsity is consulting the subject experts to develop the course content and curriculum.
