BHU Awarded Over 37000 Degrees to Students at 102nd Convocation


New Delhi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) organised its 102nd convocation on December 10, 2022 from 1 pm onwards in the Swatantrata Bhawan auditorium. The event was held after a hiatus of nearly three years and streamed online via their YouTube channel.

As per BHU, a total of 37,896 students were awarded degrees and 91 students were offered various medals. During the ceremony, 1,750 candidates from the 2020 batch, 12,032 from the 2021 academic year, and 12,050 from the 2022 academic year received degrees from BHU.

At the 101st convocation event last year, graduating students received a total of 11,529 degrees. For this session, Nikesh Arora, CEO and Chairman of Pala Alto Networks and a graduate of BHU attended the ceremony as the chief guest. 

According to Banaras Hindu University, a total of 6,272 students got graduate degrees, 4,511 students received postgraduate degrees, and 732 students received PhDs degrees. 

At the curtain-raiser news conference, BHU Vice-Chancellor Sudhir Kumar Jain discussed the new BHU alumni site, alumni.bhu.ac.in. The site was created with the goal of connecting with their alumni base in an effective way to organise, manage, and sustain ties with them.

He also included a list of recent actions performed over the previous year. According to Sudhir Kumar Jain, who was speaking about the convocation, the university community has been thrilled and anticipating the convocation, which is being held after a hiatus of nearly three years owing to the Covid19 pandemic.

"Banaras Hindu University is a very unique institution and is known for the special bond it has with its students and alumni. The convocation is an opportunity to rediscover, recollect and further strengthen this bond," he further added.
