New Delhi: Suparna Basu, a professor of statistics at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), has been chosen for the Fulbright-Nehru postdoctoral fellowship, which will begin on February 1, 2023. Tony Ng and Basu will collaborate at Bentley University in Massachusetts, the United States.

Inferential statistics in the presence of non-regular estimable situations will be the topic of Basu's research. Tony Ng is a specialist in statistical modelling, inference, non-parametric methods, censoring processes, dependability, and has over 110 publications in international journals. Ng belongs to the American Statistical Association and is a senior elected member of both the International Statistical Institute and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

For 8 to 24 months, the fellowship will give gifted professors and researchers the chance to improve their research capacities. In order to establish long-term working partnerships with US academics and institutions, the fellows will have access to resources.

The J-1 visa support, a monthly stipend, the Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges in accordance with U.S. Government regulations, round-trip economy class air travel, a modest settling-in allowance, and a professional allowance are all included in the Fulbright-Nehru postdoctoral fellowship 2022–23. As long as the dependent stays with the grantee in the US for at least 80% of the grant period, they may also receive a dependent allowance and be eligible for foreign travel for one accompanying dependant (subject to availability of funds).
