BHU Forms Sponsored Research & Industrial Consultancy Cell to Enhance Research Productivity


New Delhi: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has recently set up a ‘Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy Cell (SRICC) to enhance its research productivity done by sponsored projects and industrial consultancy.

With the inauguration of the Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy Cell at Banaras Hindu University, all sponsored research projects and industrial consultancy projects will be managed and facilitated by the SRICC cell. 

Talking about the initiative, BHU officials informed that the SRICC cell will see the end-to-end management of the entire life-cycle of projects at the university. The cell will be responsible for the development and submission of project proposals. 

SRICC will ensure hassle-free administration of projects, and networking with funding agencies. The university has appointed Prof. D. S. Pandey, Department of Chemistry, Institute of Science, the Professor In-Charge of the SRICC, the officials further added. 

In addition to this, the Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy Cell will also work on building intra-institutional and inter-institutional research collaborations to encourage potential researchers. 

The collaboration will mainly focus on developing large, disciplinary, and inter-disciplinary project proposals and nurture areas with potential for University-industry research collaborations, consultancy, and outreach.

Some of the other key responsibilities of BHU SRICC include encouraging entrepreneurship amongst students and faculty, promoting university research in different forums, processing, and management of project-related agreements.

Additionally, the cell will form MoUs, process appointments of project staff/post-doctoral fellows, offer opportunities for Research & Development activities and fellowships for students, and facilitate the creation and management of Intellectual Property Assets.

Earlier, in April 2022, the university launched its own BHU Counselling Module. The module will be used for selecting candidates for various postgraduate and undergraduate program admission seats for the upcoming admission session of 2022-23.

Talking about BHU Admission 2022, the university informed that students who are preparing to apply for the admission process are required to appear for the CUET entrance examination. 

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will provide students from all education boards a fair chance in admission to BHU courses. Students will be offered with reservations as per the government rules, it added.
