BHU Introduces a New Scheme to Support International PhD Scholars

New Delhi: The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has recently introduced a new programme to provide financial aid to the registered foreign research students of the university. BHU revealed that the international scholars will receive a credit incentive of INR 40,000, as per the new scheme.

Additionally, the research scholar will be qualified to receive an additional credit incentive of INR 30,000, if they are the first author in a Q1 or Q2 journal.

As of now, a total of 57 Intermediate students are now enrolled at BHU, and they will gain access to the monthly fellowship programme. The institute would also provide an additional sum of INR 8,000 to any international researchers who did not hold a fellowship. In addition, they will also get a contingency akin to the BHU UGC non-NET fellowship.

According to the official BHU statement, the international scholars who publish papers in journals in Q1 or Q2 would be entitled to receive a one-time incentive of an additional INR 84,000, comparable to the research incentive offered in BHU-non net fellowship.

The amount can be utilised by international researchers to pay user charges for the equipment at BHU that they have been using for the research work.

The primary aim behind this scheme is to facilitate and promote excellence in research as well as financial support to the international PhD scholars enrolled with BHU, who do not have access to any other fellowship programme.
