New Delhi: An Initiative called the "International Visiting Student Program" has been introduced by the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) for its high achievers. Candidates with GPAs of 8.0 or higher will be encouraged by the programme to undertake their research at a reputable international institution that is situated overseas.

In order to qualify for the BHU programme, individuals must have a minimum GPA of 8.0 or above and at least two articles published in a journal of reputed worldwide standing in their chosen field. To complete their study, the researcher will require permission from the host university to use the adequate facilities.

Applicants will also receive a return ticket in economy class, payment for the visa, and health coverage, if necessary, upon their arrival in India. The programme aims to encourage collaboration, make it easier for researchers to work together, and build institutional links.

Upon the program's introduction, Professor Sudhir Kumar Jain, the university's vice chancellor, stated that BHU is devoted to helping its scholars reach higher levels in life. The finest Doctoral students at the institution would have the opportunity to contend worldwide, he continued, thanks to the programme.

The programme, which complies with the demands of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020), allows qualifying pupils to complete one semester abroad at one of the top 500 universities in the world.

The participants will commute within the hosting country to attend meetings or other events during their tenure and will be paid a combined stipend value of $1,800 per month. As part of this programme, the researcher will also get a travel stipend of about $600 to explore other schools of interest or attending seminars in the host nation.
