New Delhi: BHU will host the launch of Dr Ambedkar Centre of Excellence by the Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr Virendra Kumar on April 22, 2022.
The government has planned to establish the proposed centre at 31 Central Universities across India and BHU is one of them. The initiative, run by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, would give free coaching to the Civil Services candidates of the SC category.
The event will be held at the Shatabdi Krishi Prekshagrih, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, and will be attended by Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment from the Government of India, as well as several senior officials from the Government of India, the Uttar Pradesh Government, and the Dr Ambedkar Foundation in New Delhi.
Vice-Chancellors from all of the other institutions where the centre is to be set up will also be present. Two MoUs will be signed between the Dr Ambedkar Foundation and the implementing universities to establish the centres and Dr Ambedkar Chairs.
Each coaching centre will have 100 seats, with qualified female applicants from the scheduled caste (SC) category receiving more than 33% of the total sanctioned seats. Three faculty members will be designated for each coaching.
Separate classrooms, a library, high-speed WiFi access, and other necessary infrastructure are proposed for the centres. Candidates must pass an entrance exam in order to be admitted to the coaching centre.
