Bilaspur University Admission Process Concludes; 30 percent Seats Remains Vacant, Read Details Here

Atal Bihari Vajpayee University in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh ended its admission process on Tuesday i.e. January 5, 2021. 30% seats remain vacant even after applications were received twice the number of seats available in the university and affiliated colleges. 

Atal Bihari Vajpayee University (ABVU-Bilaspur University) has observed 30% vacant seats even after the admission process was concluded. The affiliated universities of ABVU are facing the same issue even after the number of applications for admission were received twice the seats available for UG and PG courses.

Due to the pandemic situation, the university released the semester results late and was supposed to complete its admission process by December 31, 2020. Since the affiliated colleges submitted 8,000 vacant seats in UG and PG courses, the university extended its admission process till January 5, but to no avail.

Applications Received for UG and PG Admissions

Around 1.19 lakh applications were received for UG admissions and 48 thousand students applied for PG admissions in ABVU and affiliated colleges. Total 39,000 seats are allotted for UG programs and 20,000 seats for PG programs, and there are still 12 thousand seats vacant in UG after the second round of admission completes .All seats are filled in only Government Science College and JP Verma College.

The University's Education Department (UTD) offers certificate courses in Cyber Law, Yoga Science and GST as well. Applications for professional courses were received 3 times more than the seats available but only 5-10 students took the admission. Many students are opting for Central University and some have withdrawn admission due to the pandemic situation.

As per the records only 13,192 students have taken admission in UG programs.

Moreover, the students who had applied for the Master in Education exam program refused to take admission because they came in contact with Corona positive students during the main examination. 

The officials claimed to have arranged a special examination for them but nothing was provided in the online portal. Students have sought the help of the Governor in aggravation for their studies.
