BITS Pilani, Telangana Government Collaborates to Develop Technology Enabled Laboratories for Engineering Institutes


New Delhi: Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani has joined hands with State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET) to design, develop and deploy Technology Enabled Laboratories (TEL) for technical and polytechnic engineering institutes in Telangana.

As per BITS Pilani , the collaboration is done by its Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP) division to develop labs with fully-enabled technologies and required resources. This step will offer comprehensive experiential learning for the students of Telangana state. 

Under this collaboration with the State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), the institute will work on the TEL project which will be funded by the state board. The project will be executed in multiple phases in the next two years. 

The project will focus on designing remote and virtual labs for selected domains and programs. It will also aim to develop the software interface, lab equipment, and associated digital content and train the faculty members of the institute regarding the functions of the developed labs. 

Informing about this initiative, Professor G. Sundar, Director, Off-Campus Programmes & Industry Engagement, BITS Pilani, said the institute has also worked in the past to improve the overall learning experience of the students in the state. 

“Over the last several years, we at BITS Pilani have designed, developed, and deployed several remote and virtual labs, especially for the Work Integrated Learning Programmes for working professionals from across India and the globe”, he said.

Navin Mittal, Commissioner, Collegiate Education & Technical Education, added that “ from technical education’s perspective, optimal skills development in our students certainly requires them to have access to the relevant experiential learning opportunities.”

Through this collaboration, the BITS Pilani WILP and SBTET will aim to develop systems that will offer learning experiences to over thousands of students across various engineering institutes in Telangana in the coming years.
