BPUT UG & PG end semester exam to be conducted online

Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) will hold end semester examinations online for the final year undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) students. These tests will be conducted in the first two weeks of July 2020.

Skill development and technical education minister Premananda Nayak said this here on Friday. If any student fails to take the online test, he or she can sit for the offline tests following the reopening of educational institutes after July 31, he added.

The minister said eighth-semester examinations of UG courses like B Tech, B Pharm, BBA and BCA and end semester tests of PG courses like MTech, M Pharm, MBA and MCA will be conducted.

Students can appear in the online examinations at their home or any nearby institutes according to their convenience. If a student has a computer with proper bandwidth of the internet, he/she can take the test from home, said Nayak.

He also said students, who do not have facilities at their home can opt for an institute near their locality to appear in the online examinations.

Even students staying outside can also take the examinations at their home or nearby institutes, he added. Binod Dash from Odisha Private Engineering College Association said they had requested the state government for an alternative method of evaluation instead of going for offline or online examinations.

Has the BPUT procured any good software to hold the examination? Let's see how the BPUT holds the online examination, he added. Suman Behera, a BTech student, said he has no idea how to appear for the online examinations. I do not have a facility at home. I have to find out how it can be done via any nearby institute in my district, he added.

The university has around 150 affiliated colleges. Around 30,000 students of UG and PG classes will appear for the end semester examinations. The university had earlier decided to hold offline examinations by July first week.
