Mrs. Sanjukta Mallik is a Principal Tutor of the School of Nursing. She is currently the principal Tutor and has completed her graduation in PBBSC from Berhampur. She has been the principal since the last 5 years and has 25 years of experience in the Clinical field along with 10 years of teaching experience.
What are your roles and responsibilities?
“Provide best quality service for patients and education to students”
Our campus is a large one in Odisha. The responsibilities are divided among each department. Our main focus is on quality of education for the students and providing the best quality service to the patients. The first step is to maintain IPR. After that, take quality education as input. Finally, we provide quality care as updated output with the latest technologies.
What challenges did you face during the Covid-19 pandemic?
“Campus is open for studies in pandemic time”
We faced a lot of challenges during the pandemic period. SCB Medical is one of the top hospitals. The college was open when the entire country was under lockdown. We taught students across 30 districts about ICU management or critical management. I ensured that staff and students followed every SOP for the Covid-19 pandemic. We also trained our students to be safe and how to make others safe during the pandemic. Moreover, we organize assessment tests and psychological therapy for our students. Hence, they are unaware of panic and help the patients as their family members.
How do students overcome the challenges of online study in the School of Nursing?
“Provide minute guidelines for students to get the maximum benefit of classes”
The students did not perform well when they were aware of basic knowledge of theory. We followed every guideline for our students. Hence, they got maximum benefits from both online and offline classes.

How do you train your faculties for the benefit of students?
“Focus on classes for the betterment of students”
Faculty Members are the primary foundation of an institution. A campus cannot sustain itself without faculty. I try to understand the problems and needs of faculty members. We try to hire based on criteria. Furthermore, we solve the issues internally. We focus on the betterment of students in hostels, clinical blocks, and classes.
Any suggestions you would like to give for students to build a career in Nursing?
“Face every situation and provide help to humankind”
General education and nursing are different. We had online and offline classes in the covid period. The students took safety measures to handle emergencies. We also have a skill lab using the OSCE method. The nursing students were given priority during the 1st phase of vaccination. Our service to mankind is service to god. Hence, our students did not think much before providing help to any human.

What advice do you give to students for a prosperous career?
“Quality care for patients is the service of mankind”
The primary aim in this field is service to mankind is the same to God”. We need to care for the people who are in need. My vital focus is on clinical setup for patient care, quality education, Innovative Ideas, and scientific principles. The treatment of critical care patients according to the doctor’s advice is a necessary one. In teaching, I focus on the quality teaching of students. Hence, they can provide quality care to the patients by using the latest technology.
