Dr. M. Gobinath is the Principal at Ratnam Institute of Pharmacy Nellore. He is a passionate professor with 20 years of teaching and research experience in the Pharmaceutical Sciences. He has done M.Pharm, Ph.D, F.I.C with specialization in the area of Medicinal Chemistry. He has published over 40 publications in various national and international journals and has also published 2 books.

Today, I wish to see that the institution is positioned on the global map on par with international institutions. We wish to achieve this through its exemplary performance in academics, research, extension activities and outreach programmes. 

Any message you would like to give to the aspiring students of Pharmacy education?

The pharmacy profession is expanding up the horizon and setting a new trend in the educational system and career opportunities. The position of pharmacist is probably the most egalitarian of all professions today. India is now among the top five pharmaceutical emerging markets. India's pharmaceutical sector is expected to touch US$ 74 billion in sales by 2020 from the current US$ 11 billion. These factors have contributed to an increased demand for pharmacists, rating India as the third-largest health professional group in the world. It is the sole profession specifically trained to deliver pharmaceutical services.

How do you tend to establish a healthy environment in your institute?

The Institute provides counselling facilities to all the students irrespective of their genders by eminent psychologists and professional counsellors. The counselling is generally done one on one basis on several issues related to mental trauma, stress, depression, adolescents, health, stress management, etc. Similarly, career counselling and personal counselling sessions are also provided to the students on a personal basis. In addition to this, the Institute also organizes various events around the year on self-defence, time management, attitude building, and self-management techniques.
