Calcutta University PhD Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria
In order to enroll for admission to the CU PhD programme, candidates will have to meet the requisite eligibility criteria.
- Applicants must hold a Masters Degree in Marine Science/ Relevant Science subjects / Technology discipline with 55% marks in aggregate (SC / ST/ OBC with 50% marks) from any UGC recognized University/Institute.
- Applicants must have qualified NET / SET/ GATE or hold DST INSPIRE Fellowship /Teachers’ Fellowship or have obtained M.Phil. degree or M. Tech. degree prior to the application deadline to be eligible to apply for admission to the Ph.D. programme.
- However, candidates with publication in reputed journals will be given high preference.
Calcutta University PhD Admission 2023: Selection Process
- Candidate's selection to the PhD programme will be based on their performance in the written test followed by Research Proposal & an interview.
- Candidates with UGC/ CSIR/ JRF (NET)/ SET/ SLET/ GATE or DST (Inspire) Scholarship or Teacher Fellowship will be exempted from writing the Written Test.
- Candidates with M.Phil/M.Tech/MD/ME/M.Pharm degree are also exempted from the university written test.
