Calcutta University B.Tech Admission 2021: Second Counselling to be Held for Vacant Seats; Check Details Here


Calcutta University is all set to conduct a second counselling round to fill vacant engineering seats. The counselling is being held for the second time in a month. 

According to the latest reports, many first-year BTech seats in Calcutta University remain vacant as students are leaving for Jadavpur University following a new round of admissions there. 

Nearly 25% of the first-year engineering seats in the varsity are vacant. Earlier, on December 8, Calcutta University conducted independent counselling to fill up a total of 48 seats for CU Admission which remained vacant after the centralised counselling by the JEE board. 

However, the varsity will now conduct the second phase of its own counselling on December 29, to fill up 66 of the 237 BTech seats that are vacant. 

Jadavpur University (JU) has a total of 1,235 BTech seats, for which, the university conducted its own counselling between December 14 and 17 and another phase of counselling was conducted on December 22 to fill up the unoccupied engineering seats. 

According to the Calcutta University official, the first four days of JU’s counselling saw a total of 66 seats being unoccupied. 

The CU official said that a maximum number of BTech seats were vacant in the computer science and engineering and electronics and telecommunication engineering disciplines. These two subjects attracted top rankers in entrance exams.

A withdrawal form was sent by the university to the enrolled students so that the candidates who were intended to withdraw their admission could walkout.

Meanwhile, Calcutta University has released the application format for round 2 of counselling on its website. Applications will be received on December 23, 24 and 27.

Earlier, Calcutta University decided to conduct the semester examination for UG and PG students in the online mode owing to rising cases of the new COVID variant.
