Chandigarh University Inks MoU with Saint Petersburg State University, Russia for Scientific Research & Development


New Delhi: As per the latest update, Chandigarh University has inked a MoU with Saint Petersburg State University of Russia. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed to foster knowledge exchange and scientific research activities among students.

Chandigarh University has officially announced the collaboration with the Russian university through its Twitter handle. The tweet reads as follows:

Saint Petersburg State University is the oldest and one of the largest universities in Russia. The university has been ranked 242 in QS World University Rankings by Top Universities. It has been recognised with a total score of 4.0 stars. On the other hand, Chandigarh University is NAAC A+ accredited university in India positioned in the band 271-280 of QS University Rankings (Asia). 

The signing event was attended by Vice Rector for International Affairs, Sergey V. Andryushin on behalf of Saint Petersburg State University, Russia and Chandigarh University Pro-Chancellor Prof (Dr.) R.S. Bawa. The agreement will be valid for 5 years till 2027, post which the universities may renew on mutual consent.

As per the MoU, both the universities will work on collaborative research projects and student exchange programs. These will lead towards developing joint academic and scientific projects such as courses, seminars, lectures, symposiums and conferences. 

In all, the agreement also states that the collaboration would also facilitate academic and scientific exchange along with exchange of publications and information of common interest. 

Meanwhile, Chandigarh University is organizing a two-day International Conference on ‘Interdisciplinary Approaches Towards Socio-Economic Inclusiveness for Sustainable Development (ICSISD-2022)’ on June 03 and June 04, 2022. 

Interested students are invited to submit presentations and publications at the conference under the various tracks, including Economics, Management, Humanities, and Social Sciences, Engineering and Technology and Sciences, etc. 

Earlier, Chandigarh University filed 1273 patents, retaining its top position among the Higher Education Institutions for three consecutive years. As per the information shared by Dr. R S Bawa, Pro-Chancellor of the University, 87 patents were filed by the students of the varsity in 2021 and 68 patents were granted in the year that has gone by. 

“Till date, the students and faculty of Chandigarh University have filed 1273 patents. It fills me with pride to note that as many as 683 patents have been published, while 128 patents are in the first examination stage. Apart from this, 120 patents of the university have been approved”, he further added.
