CUET UG: Jamia Millia Islamia to Decide on the UG Admission Test in January

New Delhi: According to media reports, Jamia Millia Islamia will start using the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in January 2023 for admission to all undergraduate degrees starting with the following academic year.

The CUET, which was launched earlier this year, may be adopted for all courses, and the university has established a panel to consider this option. At Jamia Millia Islamia University, admission is now solely available through the CUET for 10 undergraduate programmes.

All central institutions must now admit students using the CUET, according to a mandate issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in March. The first administration of the CUET saw more than 14 lakh applicants.

JMI Forms a Committe to Embrace CUET UG

To decide whether to implement the CUET, which was recently introduced this year, the varsity organised a committee. The board is investigating the situation. According to Nazim Husain Al-Jafri, the registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia, the committee is anticipated to issue a statement in this regard soon.

The committee's findings will be given to the Academic Council during a meeting in January, and the Executive Council—the university's highest decision-making body—will then discuss it. "The topic will be discussed by the academic council in a meeting in January. After that, the EC will discuss the issue," Jafri continued.

JMI CUET Undergraduate Admission

In August, Jamia Millia Islamia created a registration portal for anybody interested in being admitted to following courses. The 10 courses are:

BA (Hons) Sanskrit,
BA (Hons) History,
BA (Hons) Hindi,
BA (Hons) Economics,
BSc Biotechnology,
BVoc (Solar Energy),
and BSc (Hons) Physics.
BA (Hons) Turkish Language and Literature,
BA (Hons) French and Francophone Studies,
BA (Hons) Spanish

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the 2023 CUET UG exam dates in light of current revisions. According to the announced schedule, the UG entrance exam will take place from May 21 to May 31, 2023.

The dates of June 1–7, 2023, have been set aside for unforeseen events. The whole CUET UG schedule has not yet been made public. The CUET UG application form is anticipated to be made available in February 2023. The first administration of the CUET saw more than 14 lakh applicants.

For admissions to UG courses in the academic year 2022–2023, the majority of central institutions in the nation's capital implemented CUET, either in full or in part. All central institutions must now admit students using the CUET, according to a mandate issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in March.
