Unipune to take Decision on Reopening Colleges at Today’s Council Meeting: Check Details Here


Unipune: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will take a decision on reopening its affiliated colleges at a management council meeting scheduled to be held today, December 21, 2020. Read further details. 

SPPU administration has informed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to permit colleges to reopen in January. The PMC had shut educational institutions till January 3, 2021, due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.

The COVID-19 tests of teaching and non-teaching staff, hostel facilities and other related strategies will be planned in today’s meeting.

Vice-chancellor Nitin Karmalkar informed the media on Sunday that communication with the PMC is still going. “We had to do the same communication for SET exams. We are hoping to reopen in the first or second week of January,” he added.

Accordingly, college hostels should be ready following all safety measures for which the colleges would be given enough time to make arrangements.

Rajendra Zunjarrao, Principal of Modern College of Arts Science and Commerce in Shivajinagar, stated, “Temperature check, oxygen check and sanitizer stands are in place in the college’s departments.” 

“At present, even if the students not on the premises, we clean every classroom and lab thrice a day. We are prepared for offline teaching with safety measures in place,” he added.

Apart from this, Principal of BMCC C N Rawal, informed that they have made all preparations to reopen for students and restart teaching in offline mode.

Earlier, Unipune releases revised mark sheets for about 6000 students on December 3, 2020. These results were declared after 8000 cases of students being awarded zero marks or marked absent were reported. The University later issued detailed reports on revised mark sheets on December 5.
