Delhi University Admissions be Solely Based on CUET Starting from 2023: DU Executive Council

New Delhi: In a meeting conducted on December 8, 2022, the executive council of the University of Delhi announced that enrollment for the academic year 2023-2024 will be entirely based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores.

In accordance with this resolution, admissions to all undergraduate and graduate programmes, including those with reserved and minority quotas, will be administered centrally based on CUET scores. The DU administration published a notice addressing the resolution.

This year, admission to unreserved seats in UG programmes at St. Stephen's was based on 85% CUET results and 15% college interviews, whilst enrollment to unreserved seats at DU was based solely on CUET scores.

The Supreme Court directed the college to adhere to the DU admission policy of admitting students only on the basis of their CUET results without conducting interviews.

Initially, the college asked to hold interviews for all categories, which was contrary to DU admission policy and went against the mandate of the university's academic and executive councils.

Tomorrow, December 31, 2022, the university will stop accepting new students for the 2022-23 school year. Registrar Vikas Gupta previously announced that the deadline for admissions to all undergraduate and graduate programmes at the University of Delhi for the academic session 2022-23 will be Saturday, December 31, 2022.

The CUET UG test will be administered between May 21 and May 31, 2023. M. Jagadesh Kumar, chairman of the UGC, has earlier declared that the application process for CUET 2023 will begin in the first week of February 2023.

Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu are among the 13 languages that will be used as the exam's medium.

The number of subjects and format of the test papers will not change. A candidate may choose up to six domain subjects in addition to the general test and one or two languages.

In contrast, the CUET PG 2023 will be administered from 1 to 10 June 2023 for enrollment to postgraduate programmes at central institutions.
