New Delhi: Delhi University's Cluster Innovation Centre (CIC) has invited online applications for people with startup ideas along with "commercial viability" to assist them in execution. All the Interested candidates can apply online through the portal till March 13, 2023.

Speaking about the application process, CIC Director Shobha Bagai said that anyone from Delhi University or outside the university with a promising idea can register for the startup ideas.

The university is all set to take in four startups and provide them with the assistance. However, there'd be no stipend or financial support offered to such startups, Bagai said.

The university is trying to encourage and assist the young minds. As a result, the startups which have certain ideas but only for the primary stage are being helped to start. They're also in need of working space and Professional mentors to take them towards the next step, she said.

Further, Bagai said the CIC, DU wanted to formalise the initiative, and thereby advertised the offer. The Mentors will be from the DU faculty or people from outside. Under the initiative, the university will offer co-working space and mentoring support for 3+3 months.

The promoters must have certain technical skills for prototyping to convert their ideas into a product. There are some parameters on which an application will be assessed by a committee constituted by CIC faculty.

Moreover, she revealed that the CIC has already asked them to fill up a form, wherein they'll have to give all the details, whether they are receiving any funding or at what stage is their product. They should also create a flowchart about their plans.

The Cluster Innovation Centre, also popularly known as CIC has been designed to seek and derive innovations from industrial clusters, village clusters, slum clusters, and educational clusters

An incubation centre funded by the Ministry of Education will be designed under the Cluster Innovation Centre. Also, there were some successful startups under the DIC.

Meanwhile, the director states that these initiatives came to a halt during the Covid, however, it is being restarted and the CIC is focusing on the start-ups.
