DU Introduces Via Vidya Vistar Scheme for Academic Collaboration with Other Universities; Read Details Here

Delhi University (DU) has introduced the Vidya Vistar Scheme to collaborate with other universities for academic facilities and also to set up libraries. These facilities will be built in partnership with universities for academic cooperation and collaboration.

Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University, P C Joshi declared the initiative of Vidya Vistar Scheme (V2 Scheme) where DU has proposed to work with other Indian universities and colleges. Through this scheme, DU will be providing available faculties, library and other academic facilities to the partnering institutions.

The V2 scheme will involve organising online and offline lectures, workshops, faculty training, conducting joint research, and publishing in collaboration with other universities. With the help of DU’s lectures, textbooks, projects, the university plans on inviting researchers to the campus for use in their laboratories and other facilities with them. 

However, Delhi university is yet to receive the response from the proposed institutions. School of Open Learning, Delhi University (SOL DU) is already offering distance education to students. 

Improving QS ranking

P C Joshi shared his vision on improving DU’s QS Ranking which is certified by annual global university ranking and celebrates the completion of 100 fruitful years. Currently, Delhi University’s QS ranking 2020 is 474, and Joshi is on the mission to consistently maintain a rank between QS Ranking 400-500. 

To fulfill this goal, they have to modify themselves with proper recruitments, promotions, teaching methods, our research, and connections with our alumni.

DU will complete its 100th year in 2022 for which DU Encyclopedia is under process. VC has already formed a 42- member committee to create the encyclopedia who has been a part of the DU family for a long time. Further, Professor Vivek Suneja has been appointed for the implementation of National Education Policy 2020.

Digital degrees

While speaking of his goals for DU, Joshi informed that the university has conducted online open-book Examination (OBE) for the first time involving 2.5 lakh students in August and 1.7 lakh students in December last year. The admission process was operated in digital mode entirely.

The DU issued digital degrees to 19,821 students and provisional certificates to 3,885 students and there will be convocation ceremony on February 27 for both online and offline programs offered at DU.

DU has signed an MoU with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations along with 18 universities across the world for the purpose of academic cooperation and collaborations with Indian and foreign scholars and students.
