New Delhi: A contract for academic and professional interactions between OP Jindal Global University (JGU) and Pune's Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) has been signed.
According to Mr. Sayyid Rabeehashmi (IIS), Registrar, FTII, "The relationship with JGU would increase FTII's outreach to a relatively younger population of students." The creation of regular academic programmes in film and television productions at JGU will shortly begin.
This year, the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication (JSJC) has introduced a bachelor's degree programme in film and new media. According to C Raj Kumar, founding vice chancellor of OP Jindal Global University, "The MoU between JGU and FTII, India's gold standard in film making, is a fascinating opportunity for the youth to pursue their aspirations in contemporary filmmaking that is at par with global standards of cinematic excellence."
Sandeep Shahare, dean of television, Jijoy PR, Dean of films, and Sayyid Rabeehashmi, the institute's registrar, were all members of the FTII delegation that visited the JGU campus in Sonipat. They "visited the state-of-the-art studios at JSJC for film, television, radio, as well as sound and video editing and spoke with the teachers and students on a range of problems," according to the institute.
According to the statement, the relationship is in line with the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication's mission and will allow us to introduce multidisciplinary academic and practical courses in filmmaking.
Professor Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, Registrar, JGU, stated that this will "enhance our regular programmes at the Jindal School of Journalism and Communication and would also greatly benefit our students and members of our community."
Additionally, it will give students access to the curriculum and methods used by FTII and present possibilities for both institutions to consider alternative methods of film education in the digital age.
Dean of JSJC Kishalay Bhattacharjee stated, "We want to provide the best tools to boost JSJC's reputation as a training ground for a new generation of storytellers who use moving images and sound to depict the world around us.
