To get admission in PhD program offered by Goa University, interested candidate needs to follow the eligibility criteria mentioned follows:

• Applicants must hold a Master’s Degree or a Professional Master’s Degree.
• They must have at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ on the UGC 7-point scale.
• A relaxation of 5% marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be given for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy Layer)/PwD and other categories of candidates.
• Those who do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be considered.

• Admission to PhD program is offered on the basis of Goa University PhD Entrance Test (GU-PET).

• Seats in Goa university will be granted as per marks secured in JRF/M.Phil/NET/SET/GATE/GPAT or equivalent entrance examination. 
• Vacant seats will be filled as per the merit of GU-PET examination. 
• Applicants who have qualified in the exams like CSIR- NET/ UGC-NET/ JRF/SET/SLET/ GATE/ ICAR/ ICMR/ DBT/ DST-Inspire are exempted from the university-based entrance exam.
