GTU plans to begin Practical Classes, Colleges Await Gujarat Govt’s guidelines

Gujarat: Gujarat Technology University (GTU) has instructed the affiliated colleges to start the practical classes. Amid the pandemic, both the staff and students are reticent towards this decision.

GTU wants the students to attend the practical classes in small batches. Meanwhile, the colleges are awaiting state government’s directives on starting classes which will induce opening hostel rooms for students.

After the Central Government declared the Unlock 5 guidelines for educational institutes to re-open from October 15, 2020, GTU has come up with this decision. The University has observed that online theory classes are going well,  but Engineering and Pharmacy students need to attend the offline practical classes.

As the students’ safety is a bigger concern, the Administration has asked to allot three students for one room in order to maintain social distancing inside the premises.

Many college principals are furious with the decision of conducting practical classes without having their say in it. They have sought advice from the Government for further instructions.

The main concern for the officials is that the laboratories are not big enough to take the full capacity of students with them following the guidelines of social distancing. Even a small mistake can cost big adversity.

LD College of Engineering, Ahmedabad Principal, Rajul Gajjar is waiting for the Government of Gujarat’s instruction to implement the GTU Instructions.

Navi Seth has stated that the students will be called upon small groups to ensure the safety and avoid gatherings
