GTU to Hold Online Exams for Students in Containment Zones

Gujarat Technological University has decided to allow its students to take the semester examinations online if they live in containment zones.

Apart from them, students of GTU who are currently not in Gujarat or India can also take the examination online. This step has been taken as several students have expressed their concern over travelling to crowded examination centres in the time of the pandemic.

The notice released by GTU also states that the students will be notified about the details of the examination soon. Students who are due to take the examination should keep an eye on the official website of the university.

Earlier, GTU had announced that the semester examination would be held offline from 25 June onwards. However, this was not received well by the students, who started signing an online petition in protest. The petition raised questions regarding the nature of conducting examinations conventionally, how the university would monitor each student’s health, and why the university cannot conduct online examinations when a number of state universities are doing so.

The students also petitioned for the results to be declared early, as the examinations have already been delayed.

Any student who is hesitant about taking the semester examination offline can also take it online.
