Gujarat University: About 10,000 Commerce Seats Remain Vacant After Fifth Round of Admission 2020


Gujarat University has completed the fifth round of online admission for commerce courses. According to sources, about 10,000 seats remained unfilled.

Gujarat University faced difficulties in filling a large number of vacant seats for the University and its Affiliated Colleges for undergraduate Commerce Courses after three rounds of online admission. 

Hence the University decided to conduct fourth round only for 11,000 odd candidates who were not able to get the college of their choice in the earlier rounds.

Only 2,899 candidates have enrolled for the fourth round of admission out of which 2,797 candidates have been offered seats by the admission committee of Gujarat University. 

Out of the 40,744 seats, 28,111 seats got enlisted at the end of the fourth round and about 12,633 seats remained vacant.

The thin participation of candidates for the fourth round of admission suggests that the remaining candidates have already secured admission in some other colleges.

Gujarat University introduced a lot of new initiatives during the online syndicate and senate meeting, held on October 3.

One of the major initiatives comprises webinars on maternity care under the guidance of the women’s development council of the University. 

Apart from this, Gujarat University recently launched new courses such as MBAs in Public Policy Management, Business Intelligence and Analytics, Homeland Security and Disaster Management, and many others. Read More

GUSEC- Gujarat University Startup And Entrepreneurship Council has also been sanctioned a lump sum INR 10 crore by The National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB). Since it was set up, it has supported 234 startups.

These startups have created upto 666 new jobs and have generated revenue of over INR 14 Crore. 175,000 students were educated about startups by GUSEC.

Gujarat University has been recognized as the Nodal Institute for fundings startups in Gujarat under the Startup Assistance Scheme of Industries Commissionerate, Government of Gujarat. Read In detail Here
