Gujarat University Decides to Postpone Offline Exams for UGC Courses


Gujarat University has decided to postpone its offline exams for courses that are under the University Grants Commission (UGC). The exams were due to start on 21 August. The examinations for courses governed by councils such as the Medical and Dental Councils will be held as expected.

Piyush Pate, the registrar of Gujarat University (GU), clarified to the deans that the postponed examinations are only for courses under the UGC. However, candidates can apply for the online examination until 16 August.

The vice-chancellor of GU, Himanshu Pandya, said that the offline examination had been postponed in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministry of Home Affairs had directed educational campuses to remain closed until 31 August.

The dean of the law and the education departments informed on Monday that they will also provide the option of holding online examinations for final-year students for courses such as BA, B.Sc, B.Com and others. The Bar Council mandated that the examinations for the second, fourth and sixth semesters should be held; the mode of examination has not been specified.
