Gujarat University Signs MoU with Kashmir University for Academic Collaboration


New Delhi: Gujarat University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Kashmir to offer initiatives like joint research programs, student and faculty exchange programs, and dual degree programs

The MoU between Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, and the University of Kashmir was signed in the presence of the first woman Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, Nilofer Khan, and Vice-chancellor Himanshu Pandya on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.

Under this partnership, the universities will jointly work towards the development of livelihood, farm, and nonfarm livelihood, climate change, rural development, etc. The areas of work will focus on water conservation and capacity building, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. 

Talking about the MoU, the officials stated that this collaboration will mainly focus on the advancement of sustainable development in key areas. This is the first time for Kashmir University to collaborate with a university outside of the state. 

Adding to the statement, KU Vice-Chancellor, Nilofer Khan said, "It is a momentous occasion to enter into a tie-up with IIS, Gujarat University, to help develop a holistic approach to sustainable development”.

“Through this MoU, we will explore research and collaborations in the areas of tourism, startup centers, agro and environment courses,” he further added. 

Informing about the proposal of dual and joint degree programs, Kashmir University Vice-Chancellor further added that university deans will discuss the areas of mutual interest for dual degree programs. 

“Under this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), both universities will work towards building mutual cooperation in the areas of livelihood, farm, and nonfarm livelihood, climate change, rural development, and natural farming”, he added. 

Vice-Chancellor Himanshu Pandya stated that the Indian Institute of Sustainability of Gujarat University has signed agreements with many Indian as well as International Universities to offer joint academic programs to students in the past.

"With the latest MoU with Kashmir University will add a lot of value to the academic opportunities being offered by Gujarat University", he added.
