Gujarat University to Offer PG Diploma Course in New Age Media from January 2022; Read Details Here


September 19, 2021: As per the latest updates, Gujarat University (GU) has inaugurated its new education department in order to offer PG Diploma Course in New Age Media from the next academic session 2022 to all interested and eligible candidates. 

With the establishment of a new department in Gujarat University, the varsity will offer self-financed courses with the use of artificial intelligence as well as animation technology. The new technology will be used in teaching the GU Course from 2022. 

Talking about the new course, GU V-C Himanshu Pandya stated that the Gujarat University PG Diploma Course in New Age Media Course 2021 will commence from January 2022. “After 13 minutes, viewers have to be shown an animation, graphic, etc to keep them interested in news. In foreign media, AI-based reporting has started. The course will be taught with all the latest details – be it a studio, engineers manning it, audio recording, etc”, he said.

Gujarat University's Department of Communication and Journalism offers programs at the Master’s level in various different domains since 1987. As of now, the university offers Master of Communication & Journalism and Master of Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) Courses at the postgraduate level for a three-year duration.

With the addition of a new department, Gujarat University aims to offer high-quality education in the journalism domain to interested students. 

During the event at GU’s Botany Department, which was held on Friday, September 17, 2021, the university invited various industry experts as well as the current head of the department. Referring to the initiative, the GU V-C Himanshu Pandya added that the step towards offering new courses from the next academic session aims to train students in the field of journalists in New Age media.

Additionally, the university has announced the launch of an Academic Chair, Shri Krishnalal Shridharani Academic Chair GyanPeeth, during the event. The journalist Shridharani’s family has contributed about INR 50 lakh to the university in the patron’s name.

Noted writer, journalist Vishnu Pandya will guide in setting up the department. The Head of the Department is yet to be decided, while the head of the newly established department is yet to be decided by the university.
