Himachal Pradesh University postpones its UG Final Year Exams scheduled on August 18


In recent development, the Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has deferred its decision to conduct the Final Year Undergraduate exam scheduled from August 18.

The decision came after the conclusion of Himachal Pradesh High Court which said to postpone the exams till further notice.

However the HPU Final Year UG Exam was scheduled from August 17, and the varsity has conducted the exams on Aug 17 at 153 centres across the state, though the Himachal Pradesh HC issued its order regarding the same on August 14.

In response to this the HPU officials have said that they were unaware of the orders till 17th August and after knowing that all the exams from August 18 have been postponed till further notice.

The Himachal Pradesh HC has instructed the varsity to postpone the exams keeping in the seriousness of COVID-19 situation.

Meanwhile, the State Secretary (Education) has asked Prof. Sikander Kumar, Vice Chancellor of HPU to move to the HC to review the decision as the step was taken keeping the UGC norms in mind.

UGC has instructed all the universities to conduct the final year exam before September 30.

In the recent update today, SC reserves order on the pleas against UGC circular regarding the UG Final Term exams

“The case regarding the conduction of HPU UG Final Year Exam appeared many times in the Apex Court to which no stay was granted against the UGC guidelines and thus the University looked ahead to conduct the exams from 17 August”, said the HPU official.
