IGNOU Inks MoU with AICTE to Translate MBA Programmes

New Delhi: The All India Council for Technical Education and Indira Gandhi National Open University have inked a Memorandum of Understanding agreement to translate the university's MBA programmes into Indian languages. IGNOU has taken the initiative to offer higher education to the students in regional languages.

According to Professor Nageshwar Rao, vice chancellor of IGNOU, multilingual education is required to restructure the Indian educational system in accordance with the NEP 2020. IGNOU has taken the effort to translate MBA course materials into several Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Odia, Bengali, and Marathi, he continued.

This is one of the various partnerships the university has with the AICTE. The translation work will contribute to making MBA courses more accessible to students who prefer to take the course in their mother tongue. The course materials' translation will also aid in overcoming the language barrier that occurs between students from various regions of India.

AICTE Chairman Professor TG Sitharam announced that AICTE and IGNOU will work to provide MBA programmes in 12 Indian languages, including Odia, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Urdu, and Assamese as a part of the agreement.

AICTE would work with IGNOU to make sure that the prescribed management terminology is included in the textbooks for MBA education in various Indian languages, he added. As adding that in the translation will benefit Indian students who desire to study MBA in Indian languages.

He continued saying that the initiative of translation is a step towards inclusion and will allow many students in remote areas to pursue MBA programmes in their native tongue. It will also assist students from non-English speaking backgrounds to pursue MBA programmes and acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed.

The efforts to translate the MBA courses have made quality education more accessible and inclusive to students, Professor MS Senam Raju, Director School of Management Studies, IGNOU remarked, encouraging economic growth and development by developing talented business professionals.

AICTE's Faculty Development Cell Director, Dr. Amit Kumar Srivastava, gave a brief overview of the organisation's involvement in technical literature written in several Indian languages as well as its participation in the agreement.
