IGNOU Introduces MA in Migration and Diaspora Program

New Delhi: IGNOU launched the first of its kind MA Program in Migration and Diaspora on March 09, 2023. As per the university officials, this program will be offered through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) beginning with the January 2023 cycle.

As per the officials, for professionals who plan to pursue careers in the fields of labour flow, human trafficking, diaspora participation, and migration governance, IGNOU’s course curriculum seeks to enhance their understanding and involvement in these areas through this program.

Candidates in exterior and international affairs ministries, diplomatic posts, UN organisations, civil societies, and non-governmental organisations will have the option to find new work opportunities with the help of this 80-credit MA program.

Informing about the key highlights of IGNOU MA Program 2023, the officials shared that the curriculum will provide a thorough awareness of migration processes, the contribution of diasporas to growth, the development-migration nexus and policy choices.

In addition to this, it will cover planning and research, rules governing cross-border movement, and challenges relating to human trafficking. The program is curated for professionals involved in the UN, foreign affairs, tourism, cultural associations and development sectors.

The course learning materials will be made available to the students in both hard copy and digital format, along with engaging counselling sessions and audio-visual coursework. The training will start with the January-December session and last for a duration of one year.
