New Delhi: The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at the IIIT Hyderabad has partnered up with Arka Media Works production house to launch a Media-Tech Accelerator Programme.
Arka Media Works has produced movies such as ‘Baahubali’. Through the accelerator programme, IIIT Hyderabad primarily aims to discover as well as upscale national startups that develop new solutions and Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in the areas of Virtual Production, Web 3.0 (Metaverse, Blockchain), Media & Journalism.
The partnership is also due to the fact that there is an increasing demand for digital solutions and various tools like AI-powered automatic editing, dubbing, lip-sync for the movies, Computational Cinematography, Interactive Storytelling, Decentralised Web and News Analytic Tools.
The Media-Tech Accelerator Programme will be supervised by chief mentors Ramesh Lohanathan, Head of CIE and Shobu Yarlagadda, Co-founder and CEO of Arka Media Works. This initiative is also being supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
“In recent years, research in AI and other emerging technologies have made great strides, making many challenging MediaTech solutions possible — using computer vision AI for editing; language technologies for evaluating scripts; speech technologies for realistic dubbing; blockchain powering metaverse solutions and more”, Loganathan stated in his statement.
“Several research areas of AI and emerging technologies have made great progress. Enabling these from India is the focus of this accelerator,”, he further added.
Praising the initiative, Yarlagadda commented on how the Indian movie production systems embark upon the latest technologies available worldwide.
“This accelerator will support Indian innovators and startups in creating new technology-driven solutions for the media and entertainment sector. The possibilities are immense”, he added to his statement.
